Why Early Access?

“Our goal with SMITE 2 has always been to make SMITE, but better. We believe the only true way to achieve this is with ongoing feedback from our community as they know the game best. Early Access is the best fit for this format of game development.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect SMITE 2 to be in Early Access development at least through early 2025. Given the nature of Early Access development, we don't have a specific end date planned at this time.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We expect the full version of SMITE 2 to include a more-complete, more-polished set of features, a more fleshed out god roster, more game modes and content in comparison to the Early Access version.

During Early Access, our plan is to release a Major Update every month containing new and fan favorite gods, new content and more, as well as patches and balance updates as we respond to player feedback.

During this phase the only way to get guaranteed access will be via our Founder’s Editions. After Early Access we expect the game to become available as a free-to-play title. We’ll be sharing more details about our development roadmap and our current priorities on our social channels and as part of regular update shows.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“SMITE 2 is currently a true Alpha. We are actively building the game, and we have a long way to go. Core features like text chat are still in progress, optimization is still a focus, and we are working to add more Gods and game modes.

But what we have now is a strong foundation, which we believe is fun to play and already better than SMITE 1 in many areas. It also sets us up for future success, and opens the door for new gameplay and tech innovations.

We want to build upon that foundation with a core group of early adopter players, who choose to take part in Early Access. We've entered 24/7 Alpha so that we can test and build features like Ranked and God Mastery which require more uptime.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“During the Early Access phase the only way to get guaranteed access will be by purchasing one of our Founder’s Editions. After Early Access, in 2025, we expect the game to become available as a free-to-play title.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We believe in a community driven approach to game development. During the Alphas we’ve already been gathering and analyzing your feedback via social media, surveys, Discord and more, and continue to keep this front of mind when making changes to SMITE 2.

Our official Discord server, linked from the game client, offers a place to leave feedback, and we will also be checking feedback here in our Steam discussion forums, and wherever else we can find public discussion about the game. We expect to make many changes and improvements inspired by our player community, and will discuss these in our dev showcase streams and other social content, as well as in depth in the patch notes for each update.

Additionally, players may improve this game simply by playing, as anonymous gameplay data is transmitted to us, which we utilize for things like balance adjustments of individual gods based on their real win/loss rates. A lot of this data is also publicly visible via partner stat tracker sites. The combination of our impressions as a development team, feedback we're hearing from our player community, and gameplay data we're collecting from players all should help us form a more-complete picture of how we can make SMITE 2 the best it can be.”
