About This Game

Descend. Observe. Report.

You have a flashlight and a Broadband Oscillation Observer (B.O.O). Your assignment is to investigate SCP-087: a stairwell that descends far beyond the building above it. Reach as far as you can, document what does not belong, and find your way back.

Staircase 55 is a single-player, first-person psychological horror game. The deeper you go, the harder it becomes to trust what you see and hear.

Take a reading

Stop, aim the Broadband Oscillation Observer (B.O.O), and capture the sounds around you. Inspect its glowing display, compare readings, and report anomalies to Command. Your equipment gives you evidence. Deciding what it means is your job.

Keep going down

Follow damp concrete flights into the darkness. Procedural encounters and dynamic events, while the stairwell responds to your pace and reporting success (or failure!). Listen carefully & watch your surroundings.

Make it back

Reaching the bottom is only part of the assignment. You still have to return. What you notice, miss, and report shapes how the expedition ends.

Optional camera and microphone effects

For players who choose to enable them, optional effects can use your webcam and microphone. Both are off by default, require your permission, and can be disabled in Settings. You can play the full game with both off.
