What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game is in "Early Access" because some features are still in development and certain aspects may be unpolished. Feedback and effort are crucial for improving the game, and the story is still in progress.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Approximately 5 years.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Paradise Nowhere is planned to have 5 versions before the full release:
  • Pre-Alpha
  • Alpha 1
  • Alpha 2
  • Beta 1
  • Beta 2

I intend to fix as many unpolished aspects as possible before the final version. I also plan to add around 25 new levels. Keep in mind that development is a dynamic process, so changes are likely, and effort and time will be required.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Paradise Nowhere is currently in Pre-Alpha and will feature 3 levels:
  • Level 0: Backstage (Complete)
  • Level 1: Warehouse (Coming Soon)
  • Enigmatic Level: Dreampools (Coming Soon)

The game will also include some Sub-Layers and Secret Levels, and this version will showcase abstract concepts such as non-Euclidean geometry.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Pre-Alpha version of the game will be free. Later versions will have a price, which will go up as more content is added. However, the final price won’t be much higher than the Early Access versions.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“You can stay updated on Paradise Nowhere's development through the official Paradise Nowhere Discord server and the DCE Projects YouTube channel.”

About This Game

Description: Paradise Nowhere is a Backrooms game that blends abstract concepts with realistic graphics, evoking a feeling of liminality through empty spaces devoid of life. The game isn’t intended as a horror experience, your feelings towards liminal spaces might make it one. Or maybe, it's just the Paradise...

Story: The story of the game is not directly told to the player. Instead, there are numerous secrets and clues that reveal the story of the Backrooms and why this place exists. However, most things will not be explicit to the player, so investigate, pay attention to the scenery, and everything else that involves the game.

Features and Concepts:

  • Interactions with the environment, such as opening doors, interacting with buttons (switches, levers, etc.), picking up objects for inventory, and inspecting items.

  • Noclip is a classic method for passing between areas in the Backrooms, and it’s also the most popular way to enter the Backrooms. This will be used in the game to discover new areas. When you see a wall with glitches like waves, try going through it. These glitches are usually found in more isolated or dark areas, but they can also appear in common areas.

  • Levels and atmosphere are the main focus of this game. The environments are designed to closely match the iconic references of the Backrooms and Liminal Spaces. The levels available in the "Pre-Alpha" are listed in the "Early Access" description. Each player's experience and feelings will vary based on how they react to different Liminal Spaces in the game.

  • Non-Euclidean Geometry can be found in some parts of the game, resulting in confusing layouts, impossible structures, and other effects.

  • Puzzles will appear in some parts of the game, revealing pieces of the story and hidden elements when solved. However, these puzzles are optional and won't affect your progress. These puzzles might involve button sequences or more abstract challenges like interpreting scenarios and deciphering cryptography.

Game modes:

  • Exploration Mode is ideal for players who just want to immerse themselves in the atmosphere without interruptions. In this mode, the story does not affect gameplay, creating more of a walking simulator experience. Enjoy the Liminal Spaces and ambience.

  • Story Mode reveals more secrets and tells parts of the story both directly and indirectly. It includes a story that explore the mysteries of the Backrooms, along with a "Sanity Bar" that responds to your emotions. The game will ask about your feelings toward different Liminal Spaces (dark areas, high places, long hallways, etc.), affecting your sanity bar. As your sanity decreases, you’ll experience hallucinations.

Note: "Story Mode" and "Puzzles" will not be available in "Pre-Alpha".
