What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Although Ricave can already be played from start to finish, Early Access is essential for refining gameplay balance, adding new content, removing elements that don’t work well, and ensuring the overall experience is enjoyable. The goal is to gather community feedback and implement the best ideas.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Ricave is expected to remain in Early Access for about a year, although the exact duration depends on how much feedback is received and how many changes are needed to make the game enjoyable.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full release will likely include additional or refined content and improved balancing, but the core gameplay will remain the same. The aim is to build on the current version's foundation so the final experience feels engaging.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Ricave is currently fully playable from the tutorial all the way to the final boss, with every achievement unlockable. All features listed in the "About This Game" section - procedurally generated dungeons, the full story campaign and side‑quests, meta‑progression, a deterministic time‑rewind system, and an in‑game mod manager - are already in the game. What you see in the store description is exactly what you get in-game today, with future Early Access updates focused on balance tuning and adding new content. The game has been extensively tested and is currently bug-free to the best of our knowledge.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We don't plan to change the price after Early Access. Only in the rare event that we add substantial new content during development would we consider a small price increase.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is essential during this stage. Please share your opinions, suggestions, and bug reports on Steam, Ricave’s social media, or the official Discord server. This input will guide future updates and improvements.”

About This Game

Ricave is a turn-based, first-person, 3D roguelike featuring procedurally generated dungeons, grid-based movement, time control mechanics, and a user-friendly interface. Inspired by the wild nature of traditional roguelikes, it's designed around readability, intuitive gameplay, and transparency. Join us on Discord to stay in touch.

Randomly generated dungeons

Each run takes place in a uniquely generated dungeon, providing replayability, but not in a way that would compromise game balance or difficulty. Every scenario always has a solution, though it may sometimes demand exceptional skills and creativity.

Gameplay

Fight, loot, fly, swim, cast spells, set traps, finish quests, discover secrets, craft items, unlock perks, enchant gear, and more. Explore randomly generated dungeons and try to outsmart your enemies - immobilize them, set them on fire, break their bones, lure them next to an explosive barrel and detonate it, push them into toxic water, and more. But most importantly, be ready for tough challenges that require smart decisions.

Time control

Ever wish you could press CTRL+Z in a game? In Ricave, you can! Rewind time at will to correct mistakes or misclicks. Ricave is entirely deterministic: rewinding and making the same move again will yield the same result - no "cheesing" RNG to roll higher damage.

Permadeath and progression

Many roguelikes are challenging and so is Ricave. While permadeath usually means starting over when you die, Ricave lets you progress across runs by completing quests, leveling up your character, finding permanent items, and advancing the storyline. You'll also gain access to a lobby area where you can buy and personalize a private room with trophies collected from your dungeon adventures.

Health tracking

A missing leg slows you down, damaged eyes cause blindness, and missing arms limit item interaction. Enemies follow these same rules, so use this to your advantage in combat! You can also suffer from illnesses, bleeding wounds, broken bones, starvation, and more.

Unique items

A potion can heal or harm you, boost your strength or induce weakness, intoxicate or speed you up, act as deadly poison, restore mana, and more. A scroll can make you levitate, teleport you randomly, summon a deadly creature, enhance your vision, rewind time, remove a curse, or inflict conditions like freezing, blindness, and burning.

Moddable

Ricave's code is structured to simplify modding as much as possible. You are welcome to expand the game with your own content and share your creations with the community. The game includes an in-game mod manager.

Speedrun friendly

Ricave features a zero-lag, unintrusive movement input system, ideal for players aiming to master their skills and complete the game quickly.

User-friendly interface

Roguelikes can be challenging, and going 3D adds even more complexity. Ricave addresses this with a clean, simple, and intuitive interface. High-contrast, stylized graphics will help you quickly understand your surroundings and let you focus on making strategic gameplay decisions. An in-game tutorial is also included to guide new players.
