Why Early Access?

“I'm dedicated to developing this application to a 1.0 version and beyond, but can at this moment only do so part-time. I have a plan to transition over to full-time and early access may speed up that process.

Another reason to go early access is to get a broader feedback loop. There are edge cases where certain hardware & software setups interfere with GameTranslate, and if I want to find the errors sooner rather than later, more is better.”

“The full release is planned to have;

Partial support for games that use DirectX 8.0 and/or lower
Partial support for games that use DirectDraw
At least 30 language pairs
Support games that use EAC (Easy Anti Cheat) or other anti-cheats

“GameTranslate is likely to have a price increase at full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Feedback is essential for any application's success. I will make sure to be active in the official community group here on Steam and try to involve users to test out new features before they can be rolled out to the official build.

There are many languages out there and I will not be able to create them all - so if anyone wishes to contribute with their own language models, there will eventually be a guide for you to do so.”

Maybe you're an avid online player just trying to communicate with foreigners but you're sick of having to constantly copy-paste or at best guess what they're saying.

Or.. maybe all you want to do is enjoy your time & learn languages as you game on into the night.

I created this app because I love learning new languages and because games are the reason I can communicate fluently in English today.

I also believe the gaming community lacks the tools to communicate efficiently when there are language barriers online. Which, let's be honest, happens quite often. I hope GameTranslate can relieve some of that pain for us all.

Anti-Cheat compatibility

Some games use Anti-cheat tools that unfortunately also block applications like GameTranslate from overlaying and interacting with the game.

If any game uses the anti-cheat below, it will not work with GameTranslate

Anti-Cheat tools like EAC may be supported in the future

Please DO NOT use this software in online games where it may be falsely flagged as cheating software. Use it at your own risk and always read the terms of service of the game you wish to translate in.
