About This Game

The Darkest Paths - The House is a Single-player Psychological Horror Game, adapting the VHS-Style format to give you the best horror experience.

Story Summary

You take the place of Michael Holster, a journalist who used to live in Ravens Hollow, a small-city near a beautiful large forest. However, in this beautiful small-city weird, strange, and sometimes scary events unfold. People going missing, weird symbols popping up, and murder cases. Michael, who at a young age moved away from Ravens Hollow, decides to go back and investigate some of the strangest cases from his old hometown, hoping to gain some fame, make money with his articles, and maybe even get some closure.

Key Features

  • Psychological Horror
TDP is at its core a Psychological Horror Game that utilizes atmosphere, audio, and the setting to create fear and anxiety. However, it is not without the occasional creepy figure down the hallway watching you and quickly disappearing when you make eye contact, or something following you from behind, just always out of view (well, not always out of view exactly).

  • Enemy AI
TDP is, as said, a psychological horror game, but it does have its enemies that do not like people entering their house without permission, but they don't mind some entertainment, which is not the best thing for you.

  • The First Of Many
The Darkest Paths - The House, is one of a series of Horror Games I plan to produce, and with each game released and looking at feedback, the games will only improve in almost all aspects, whether that be the gameplay to cinematic cutscenes and scares. Each game will focus on one specific 'story' that has happened in Raven's Hollow, and you get to experience all of it and what exactly those poor souls went through before their death.

  • The Story
TDP is based on a book series I wrote when I was 18 (and almost published), but does not follow the stories written in the book 1 to 1. Instead of re-telling stories from the book, it takes place in the same universe, but in another place. If you're wondering what this means, the story of TBTS is already complete and has already been written years ago, allowing me now to tap into this universe and create more scary and disturbing stories just for you!

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

We plan to add more "animation" and "detail" to things such as dying to the beings, which will include stuff like gore and blood
