What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“NervBox is in its very early days. We’ve been iterating on the systems that enable a no-compromises VR physics simulation in multiplayer for over a year now, and they’re finally at a point where we’re confident in sharing it with the world.

Fully understanding what kinds of game modes and experiences are possible and work best in a rich multiplayer physics simulation is going to take time, trying a lot of new things, and an enormous amount of player feedback.

We also hope to better understand what simulation features players want most, whether it be vehicles, destructible props or maps, advanced NPCs, more physics-tools, or beyond. We want to make sure we’re spending our time building what players value most.

Finally, we’re aiming to build out a modding toolkit based on our internal tools to allow players and modders alike to easily build their own maps, weapons, and gamemodes alongside us as we all explore this exciting new frontier!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We don't have a definite timeline for when NervBox will leave early access.
We want to make sure that the core systems are as polished as possible and that we’ve explored what gameplay opportunities exist in a detailed multiplayer simulation.
In a vacuum, we expect these goals to be achievable within 8-12 months. However, given that we will be iterating and adding features and content based on feedback from early access players, we expect our scope and timeline to adjust accordingly.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of NervBox will contain more simulation features, maps, game modes, weapons, and physics tools requested by the community.
In addition to the content created by us, we would like to build out a modding toolkit based on our internal tools to allow players to add and share their own content as easily as possible.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Today, NervBox features fully physics-driven and networked players, interactions, simple physics-based NPCs, weapons, and a couple of physics-tools including a weld-gun.
We currently offer 2 maps with a 3rd in development, 3 game modes (Capture the Flag, Tower Defense, and Traitor) with plenty more planned, and an unlimited sandbox experience.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Our current plan is to gradually increase the price of NervBox as we ship new features and content.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is integral in building out an experimental game like NervBox.
We will be gathering feedback from players in our Discord to help us prioritize where we spend our development time.
We will also be working closely with modders to test our content-creation tooling and ensure they’re able to create the physics-driven experiences they want.”

About This Game

Enter The Simulation.

NervBox is a VR, physics-based, sandbox designed to let players push the limits of interactivity.

PHYSICS. VR. MULTIPLAYER.

In a first for VR, players are no longer ghostly beings that can phase through each other. In NervBox, not only is your physical body simulated in-game but so are other players. Push each other around, work together, or fight to the death, there are no limits.

Immersive Interactions

NervBox features an accurate interaction system and various mechanics to make combat feel good. Rack a shotgun with one hand, toss a knife in the air, force-grab it back, climb over a friend or give a crisp high five.

Active Ragdolls

Your friends aren't the only living entities in-game. NervBox features fully physics-driven NPCs that will attack you and your friends. Use guns, swords, or just your fists and fight back.

Multiple Gamemodes

Fight and defend your base in “Tower Defense”, sharpen your combat skills in the close quarters “Kill House”, or let your imagination run wild in the sandbox mode; NervBox contains various levels designed to let you and your friends experience something new every time you play.

Play Comfortably

NervBox's physics-driven player controller has been built with seated play in mind since day one. Gone are the days of having to choose between a VR gaming session or a relaxing one.

Next Level Audio

NervBox features fully spatialized audio for everything, so you will be entirely immersed not just visually or physically. Big empty rooms will have reverb, large structures will block sounds entirely, and even voice communications are spatialized.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Players are able to create violent scenarios with NPCs, weapons, and other players. Players are able to harm themselves and humanoid enemies.
