What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I am releasing the game now in Early Access as it is nearing completion and contains the majority of the content in a complete and playable state and only has a few more updates to go until it is complete.

With more than 15,000 individual renders, multiple animations and dozens of scenes with a variety of different characters, Early Access gives a great opportunity to begin your journey into the world of Defending Lydia Collier prior to its completion.

Early Access also presents a great opportunity to receive feedback which can be implemented at the stage when the game is still being developed causing it to evolve and improve which would not be offered if released in a completed state.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The planned duration of Early Access before the game is complete is 6 months.

14 of 16 days in the game are now completed and playable, with only two more to be added during the Early Access period.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“All features and gameplay elements are already included, there will just be two more days worth of content. Currently there are 14 of 16 days implemented in the game, and the full version of the game will therefore be slightly longer and contain more content than the current Early Access version, however the gameplay and mechanics which are primarily of a "visual novel" format will not change from how they currently are.

I plan to add achievements in future updates.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently the game as it is is almost complete and is only missing the final two days of content.

All of the characters have been added, and all of their paths and all of the different paths for the story have begun and have a significant amount of content.

14 of 16 planned days have already been added to the game, which includes over 15,000 individual renders and several animations.

The main story has significant content, including images and voice acted evidence in parts and is building up to the final mission. There are over fifty different pieces of evidence to gather, and these range from photographs to news articles and voiced audio recordings.

In terms of the romantic side of the game, all the love interests have multiple scenes, several with dozens and one with 27 different scenes alone.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, the majority of the game is available, with 14 of 16 days already added, and by purchasing in Early Access you will get these updates the day they are released and the full game once it is completed.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I release weekly development diaries that are available to the public detailing the week's progress and how close to the next update we are.

I have a very active Discord with more than 3,000 people in it, and this contains a suggestions room where anybody can share their feedback, a bug reporting room so I can fix any issues should you come across them, and also rooms where I share previews and update the community on the current state of the game and the progress made.”
