What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“As a solo developer I would like this game to be released as early as possible so that it can help to inform my development process. I will add extra polish as I go, but the game as released is in a playable and complete state. There will be extra quality of life and features added. The early access will support this development”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Due to several stages of planned releases, the Early Access period will be approximatelly 2 years”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Arcana Rift is planned to become a more complete, polished, and better-balanced version of the current Classic card battle experience.

During Early Access, the main focus will be improving the core 1v1 mode through player feedback, balance updates, bug fixes, clearer UI, better tutorials, improved presentation, and additional polish. I also plan to explore additional content and possible extra modes as development continues, but the exact scope and timing may change based on testing, player interest, and what is realistic for solo development.

The current goal is to make the full version feel more refined, more stable, and more complete, while keeping the core identity of Arcana Rift as a tarot-inspired card battler and strategy game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The games first mode has all basic game systems in place, all basic parts of the game and all basic character types, abilities etc. The game is at a solid playable level that will just need more insights to reach its full potential.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, it will be at a lower price point during early access. Once the early access period is over, I will reassess and may increase the price of the base game if the enhancements justify it. Other game modes related to the base game are also in early development, however these are planeed to be released as additional DLC so as not to affect the price of the base game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Arcana Rift is being developed by a solo developer, so player feedback will be very important during Early Access.

The best place to provide feedback will be the Steam Community discussions, where players can report bugs, discuss balance, suggest improvements, and share thoughts about the current state of the game.

I will be paying close attention to feedback about card balance, Arcana effects, online play, UI clarity, tutorials, and overall match pacing. Not every suggestion will be possible to add, but community feedback will help shape the priorities for updates during Early Access.”

About This Game

Enter the Arcana Theatre

Arcana Rift is a tactical card battle game set inside a strange occult theatre where tarot-inspired cards come to life on stage. Every match is a duel of timing, sacrifice, board control, and sudden reversals as ordinary playing cards clash with powerful Arcana.

This Early Access version currently focuses on the Classic 1v1 battle mode, playable offline against AI or online against another player.

Classic 1v1 Card Battles

Each battle is played over a series of turns where players draw cards, spend mana, place cards onto the board, and use their card powers to attack, defend, heal, or disrupt the opponent.

The goal is simple: reduce the enemy player to 0 health before they do the same to you.

The challenge comes from managing limited board space, choosing when to commit cards, deciding which threats to remove, and preparing for powerful Arcana effects that can change the flow of the match.

Four Suits, Four Tactical Roles

Your deck is built around four tarot-style suits, each with its own role in battle:

  • Swords are direct attackers that can punish enemies through counterattacks.

  • Wands focus on aggressive magical strikes and pressure.

  • Cups provide healing and recovery.

  • Pentacles support protection, defence, and board control.

Learning when to attack, when to defend, and when to sacrifice a card is central to winning.

Summon the Major Arcana

Arcana cards are rare and powerful cards inspired by the Major Arcana of tarot. They are not just stronger units. They can alter the rules of the battle.

Arcana may stun cards, remove threats, redirect attacks, grant temporary advantages, or create ongoing effects that both players must adapt to. Timing an Arcana summon can turn a losing game into a comeback, but using one at the wrong moment can leave you exposed.

Blood Gems and the Arcana Shop

As cards fall in battle, players gain Blood Gems. These can be spent in the Arcana Shop to purchase powerful Arcana cards during the match.

This creates a risk and reward economy: losing cards can give you access to stronger options, but sacrificing too much board control can cost you the game before those options matter.

Forge Items During Battle

Players can forge suit-based items to strengthen their cards or create temporary tactical advantages. Forged equipment can increase offensive pressure, support defensive plays, or provide limited-use effects during a match.

Item use is designed to support the core card battle system without overwhelming it.

Offline AI and Online PvP

Arcana Rift currently includes:

  • Offline 1v1 battles against AI.

  • Online 1v1 PvP battles.

  • Turn-based card combat with placement and action phases.

  • Arcana summoning and shop decisions.

  • Suit-based card abilities.

  • Forged item and equipment mechanics.

A Focused Early Access Release

Arcana Rift is being developed by a solo developer. The current Early Access release is focused on the Classic 1v1 card battle mode, with ongoing work planned around enhancements from ongoing player feedback.

The current purchase includes the Classic 1v1 battle experience described above. Future updates may expand the game further, but the current version is built around tactical card duels, Arcana effects, and online/offline play.

What Makes Arcana Rift Different?

Arcana Rift is not a collectible card game built around buying card packs. It is designed as a focused tactical battler where the interest comes from learning the system, managing risk, and finding clever plays inside a mysterious setting.

If you enjoy tactical card battles, unusual mechanics, and games made with a distinct style, Arcana Rift is built for you.
