What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We have decided to release the game in early access in order to involve our players in the development process and receive feedback on the gameplay mechanics, visuals, and overall experience of the game. If the community can get access to the game in it's early days, they can give a lot of useful feedback about the game that would only make it better while players are enjoying it. The Backrooms is a complex and intriguing world, and we want to make sure that we create a game that captures the essence of this surreal and haunting space. Early access allows us to receive support and feedback from the community, which will help us fine-tune the game and ensure that we create a truly immersive and engaging experience for players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Max one or two years depending on how smooth the development goes and how much feedback the game gets”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“There are lot of plans for the finished game, like
  • Multiplayer support
  • Graphics improvement
  • Better Procedural Generation than the current one
  • Involving many other levels and type of backrooms too
  • Involving other creepypastas on different levels based on the feedbacks
  • Making the backrooms more confusing and more liminal than it's current state
  • Improving AI and animations
  • Lot of achievements
And much more cool updates. We are open for the community's suggestions too.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“It is a singleplayer horror game based on the popular creepypasta, the Backrooms. Currently it contains the Lobby(Level 0), the Habitable Zone (Level 1), the Pipe Dreams (Level 2) and "Level !". Level 0 is the origin of the backrooms. The core features and basic ideas are already included which means nothing good if you are hoping to survive in those rooms ;)
The current playtime is around 1-2 hours depending on the player. But of course this will be much longer by time.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will always represent what's already in the game. As the game grows, the price will rise to correspond to the experience given to the player. So the price will change either over the course of Early Access, or at full launch.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our community will be heavily involved and their opinions and feedbacks will be taken seriously. Their experience is the most important. Steam Discussions and the Discord Server will be made and checked constantly to make sure the game doesn't miss out the players suggestions.
Check out the links on the Steam page to join our Discord Server.”

About This Game

An atmospheric Horror game inspired by the popular internet creepypasta, The Backrooms.

In theory if we can somehow break the laws of physics and clip through an object, we can noclip out of bounds in normal reality. This may occur by an accident in most cases, but when it happens, you end up there. The Backrooms are a seemingly infinite non-linear space.
All rooms in Level 0 appear uniform and share superficial features such as yellowed wallpaper, damp carpeting, electrical outlets, and inconsistently placed fluorescent lighting. However, no two rooms within the level are identical.
Linear space in Level 0 is altered drastically; it is possible to walk in a straight line and return to the starting point, and end up in a completely different set of rooms than the ones previously passed through.

That was a myth for long, but now scientists discovered a new way of entering. They have made a lot of experiments and now they can say entering is totally safe and easy. They are having scientists there with experimenting motive and now looking for civil people to send in.
They are really friendly and respecting your needs. Then you get sent into the backrooms and find yourself alone.
Where are the others?

Explore the Backrooms with a Camera and a Pedometer.
Don’t try to memorize the rooms or where you came from, this is the Backrooms.

You are alone and these yellow walls and that sound of the lamps starting to drive you crazy. You hate that weird feeling you get there.
Are you sure you are alone? Is it just your mind?
