About This Game

Eternals’ Path is a rogue-like, turn-based tactical RPG.

It’s about choices, the ones you made, the ones you regret, and those that will haunt you to your grave, and beyond… In this Narrative and Strategic game, build up Experience and Skills to face the 40 characters of two different procedurally generated Stages. Talk with them to influence the encounter, use your Conscience as a moral compass and a resource, and rediscover what you did in previous lives through Memories gathered during your exploration. And finally, escape the Passage !

“Hey… Hey! Finally you’re awake! You don’t have time to lose, come on, you have to fight for your next life!”

In Eternals’ Path, you embody a fallen anti-hero, but no merciful rest awaits your character on the other side. Instead, your past comes after you. Awaken once more in a colorful and mysterious Afterlife, and while you try and find how to get out, be faced with those you knew, and who may hold you accountable for their fate. Take caution with the souls and fates you will be handling.

You may not be prepared for what’s coming...

Rogue-like: Eternals’ Path is a rogue-like. That means, every run starts from the same standpoint and you do not gather advantages from one run to the other.

RPG and Skilltree: In classic RPG fashion, during your run, you’ll gather your foes’ Essence, and will be able to use it as Experience, to buy Skills from the Skilltree. Choose from 17 varied Skills, and build your unique build to tackle the Afterlife’s challenges!

Narration and Dialogues: Meet characters from your past lives and discover their unique stories. Some just want to talk with you and others, well, have other intentions… Narration is intricate to gameplay, each enemy you encounter will have a talk with you. Before each confrontation, dialogue with your opponents and influence the outcome of each encounter. Choose your answers freely, but be wary, consequences come fast around here!

Turn-based fights and Tension: Everyone takes their turn to hit in the Afterlife. Build up your character’s tension by taking shots from your enemies and enjoy a second round once your gauge is full! But don’t forget your foes work in the same way, and won’t hesitate to hit back!

Morality is a social construct: In the Passage, Conscience can be quantified and serves many purposes. Your decisions in game will affect the gain or loss of this resource. It can be used in combat to channel powerful abilities. But be careful, the more you use the remains of your humanity, the less effects and dialogue options you will get. You are in charge, therefore you shall bear the consequences of your decisions.

Memories of a past life: Memories are the last pieces of your lives you can find and equip during your wandering through the Passage. They are memories from your past lives that have materialised following your arrival in the Passage. The impact they had on your character and the emotions they trigger will modify your stats and alter the skills you've learnt, affecting the gameplay in a significant way.

Unique Statistics: Of course, the usuals life, strength, and speed are all present on the board, but we wanted to bring other, more interesting and unique statistics for our players to juggle with. Introducing Clairvoyance, allowing you (or not) to see foes’ intentions, and dialogue effects. And Resilience and Conviction, reducing or augmenting the damage and buffs/debuffs received.

They are trapped: Incarnate morally grey characters and discover what they did, who they helped or hurt in the meadows of their conflicted past. If they manage to get through the Passage, will you make them leave as better souls or will you have them plunged even deeper into their own shadows? The choice is yours.

The Passage: The Passage is a mysterious world created by a caring entity to host the souls of the dead and allow them to self-reflect and heal between incarnations. It is formed of 3 distinct strata in which souls have to cross portals to reincarnate on earth. Versatile and ever evolving, the afterlife shapes itself depending on its visitors, feeding them pieces of their past life, reminiscing hurtful memories in order to make peace with painful pasts.

The Wanderers: When the game ends, no matter who won or lost, kings and pawns return to the same box. So many different souls call the Passage «home». No two stories alike, yet countless are those who still hold grudges and seek revenge or retribution in the afterlife. From the lowest scum to mighty bosses, encounter 90 characters and as many unique stories during your journey in the Passage. Take caution with the souls and fates you will be handling. You may not be prepared for what’s coming.

Since the dawn of time, humankind has gazed upon Death with a mixture of fear and wonder. Turning our anxious eyes toward the glittering stars dotted around our little planet, we often ask ourselves the eternal question: “What awaits us after we die ?”. Well...

What if I told you death isn’t the end?
