What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I wanted to get the game into the hands of players halfway through development in order to allow the community to guide the further creation of the game.

I also plan on adding support for dedicated servers so that the game can handle hundreds of players in a single world to allow a true multiplayer backrooms experience... and dedicated servers are very expensive ;(.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I'm estimating around 3-6 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I am planning on adding many more levels and game modes throughout Early Access. My goal for the full version is to create an immersive game that you can spend hundreds of hours in with your friends and never get bored.

It will also feature dedicated servers in order to support massive online games in an open world fashion.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of the game includes a singleplayer option with a timer for speedrunning, some story elements, and a more immersive experience due to being alone in an endless system of rooms.

Multiplayer includes a coop mode where you can traverse through the levels in various difficulties with proximity chat.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“It will likely be more expensive to support high quality dedicated servers to allow hundreds of people per game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is guiding the entire development of the game. I've implemented many suggestions from my Discord server and YouTube comments and close to the entirety of my videos are revolving around adding suggestions from the community.”

About This Game

Explore the seemingly infinite expanse of eerily familiar levels in the backrooms based on the popular creepypasta lore. Each level features different ways to escape with danger along the way.

Realistic graphics, minimal user interfaces, and dreary ambience will ensure an immersive experience.

Explore the backrooms with a team of up to 4 players. Be warned, as teammates may no-clip into other areas of the map and every member of your team must find the exit alive to escape. No wanderer left behind.

Communicate with your teammates with proximity voice chat. Be sure to not wander far away from your team, as you can easily get lost in the confusing expanse of the backrooms. Entities can also hear you, so stay quiet whenever you sense any danger.

Traverse though 8 unique levels based on backrooms lore with regular content updates adding more. Each level features a different way to escape with various danger along the way.

"If you're not careful and noclip out of reality in the wrong areas, you'll end up in the Backrooms, where it's nothing but the stink of old moist carpet, the madness of mono-yellow, the endless background noise of fluorescent lights at maximum hum-buzz, and approximately six hundred million square miles of randomly segmented empty rooms to be trapped in.

God save you if you hear something wandering around nearby, because it sure as hell has heard you."
