Why Early Access?

“Notmads is an ambitious project and, in many ways, the game I have always wanted to make. I have been developing it since 2021, mostly as a solo developer, while bringing in additional help when needed for areas such as art, audio, and other specialist work.

I plan to keep working on Notmads until it becomes the game I want it to be. Early Access allows players to experience it while it is still growing, and their feedback helps me understand what works, what needs more attention, and where the game can improve.

My goal is to use that feedback alongside my own vision for the game to make Notmads as good as possible while continuing to add content, improve existing systems, and polish the overall experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The current plan is for Notmads to remain in Early Access for around 2 years.

This is only an estimate and may change depending on how development progresses. I would rather give the game the time it needs than rush it toward a full release before it is ready”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version includes the core gameplay systems and the first island.

Throughout Early Access, I plan to expand the world with more islands, areas to explore, quests, enemies, progression, and a continuation of the main journey. Existing systems such as combat, building, crafting, progression, exploration, and the beast itself will also continue to be improved and expanded.

The goal for the full version is not just to add more content, but to make the whole experience feel more complete, polished, balanced, and connected.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Notmads is currently in an Alpha state. The features and gameplay shown in the store description are already part of the current version, including the core gameplay loop and the first island.

There are already several hours of playable content, but the game is still actively being developed. Players should expect bugs, balance changes, systems that may continue to evolve, unfinished content, and some visuals or assets that will be improved or replaced over time.

An up-to-date roadmap is available on the Steam page and can be checked at any time to see what is currently being worked on and what is planned next.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Probably. The current plan is to increase the price over time as substantial new content and improvements are added, and again when the game reaches full release.

This may change depending on how development progresses.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player feedback is one of the main reasons I chose Early Access.

Players can report bugs, suggest ideas, and share feedback through Steam and Discord. I read that feedback regularly and use it to help identify problems, understand how different systems are being received, and decide what may need more attention.

Not every suggestion will necessarily become part of the game, but feedback is an important part of helping Notmads improve while I continue following the overall vision for the project.”
