What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I am a one-human development team. This is the only way I can bring my art to you. This allows me to get out updates often, and quickly while still being able to focus on core game elements, and additional content to keep your experience fresh and exciting!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I've already put roughly 10 years into research and development on Just Another Day before I have listed it. My vision has been satisfied. I intend to keep Just Another Day in Early Access for approximately 2 years and put out content updates along the way.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During Just Another Day's development, we plan to include a significant expansion of our islands, monsters, fish and mechanics that we have in the game already, as well as add new and exciting features we've been tinkering with in the background. Expect game changing and breaking updates, that will get added or removed over time. We will have our public discord available for community feedback as well as a place to express your ideas and what you'd like to see in the game, too!

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The entire state of the game is built in UNITY 2022.3 HDRP/HDR 4k/RTX in DirectX 11, 12 and full support for Vulcan HDR. Optimized and being tested internally for Steam Deck and native Linux releases. I have a good foundation to the game, all of the systems are in the game already working, charted or storyboarded out. The game is roughly 75% complete as far as my vision for this game is concerned as of April 2025.

We have implemented nearly all of the systems such as: Open world, endless procedural terrain, base building, fishing with over 20 fishing types, 4 rod types, and a procedural bait and legendary system. We have added a basic boat that you may upgrade with various parts you will find along your fishing adventures. There are many more to come and we have some cool ideas for some new ones! We are internally testing multiplayer elements and are ready to implement our global karma system for players. The game is playable, fun and ready to grow.

After we exit Early Access, we will keep a limited update schedule to work on updates and new products.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Just Another Day will increase in price by 25%-50% after Early Access, and continue providing significant updates. DLC Music Album is finished and out now on all major platforms but will also be available at launch through STEAM. ”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“That's all up to you, the community! We will have a Discord available at Wishlist/Early Access.
All that I ask is that you are patient! I'm only one guy and I'll work around the clock for my art if you love it. It's just that simple for me. We will have giveaways, free game code opportunities and a mobile app mini-game that goes with Just Another Day!

I started this game over TEN years ago and have NEVER quit. Just Another Day, and being a game developer is my life's dream and what I'm passionate about. I look forward to sharing my game with the world!”

About This Game

Just Another Day
An Open-World Horror Fishing Game in an Alien Apocalypse

Step into a haunting world torn apart by an alien invasion in Just Another Day. Traverse treacherous, procedurally generated maps as you navigate real-time, ever-changing waters in search of rare fish, legendary loot, and unimaginable horrors. As a lone survivor, you'll fight using an arsenal of fully customizable boats, weapons, fishing poles, reels, lures and throwables from primitive spears and harpoons to futuristic beam weapons and other alien technology. Each weapon is uniquely generated, offering endless possibilities in your fight against colossal monsters, roaming creatures and unpredictable world events.

Key Features:

  • Real-Time Water System: Experience dynamic waters with physics-driven waves.

  • Global and Local Karma based systems. You always have a choice, what will yours be? The game will shape on how you treat the world, and the things in it and when Multiplayer is introduced a global Karma system will begin. More details later on that.

  • Endless Exploration: Procedurally generated maps, 18 unique fish species, and 6 loot tiers keep every journey fresh.

  • Robust Fishing Mechanics: Fish for treasure and face lurking dangers beneath, where a rare catch could mean life or death.

  • Unique Combat Tools: Customize harpoons, grapple hooks with warheads, and an array of modern and alien weaponry—all procedurally generated and fully craftable. Discover parts, enhancements and upgrades as you roam the land and seas. Fine unique and legendary items that set yourself apart from everyone else.

  • Dynamic Enemy Encounters: Face IK-driven enemies, from alien invasions to colossal, otherworldly creatures entering through dimensional rifts. I've spent an incredible amount of time learning procedurally based IK creatures.  I scare myself sometimes.  You won't expect them. Prepare yourselves for a fight. The enemies in this game can jump, fly, climb, break, craft, group, plot and stalk you wherever you go.  Your boat included. Be wary traveler, keep a good weapon by your side always.

  • Base Building and Defense: Build and protect your sanctuary in this hostile alien world with your standard foundations, walls, steps and ladders but in addition to the basics: Nearly ANYTHING you find in the world can be used to defend your base!

  • Advanced Graphics Support: Optimized for DirectX 11/12 for Windows  and Vulkan for Direct Linux, VR and Steam Deck Support

  • Multiplayer Mode and Expansive VR Support: Single-player now, with multiplayer on the way, promising even more depth and interaction. As a VR pioneer, I have built this game for Virtual Reality from day one.

Developed solo over 10 years by a 40-year industry veteran, Just Another Day is packed with heart, creativity, and surprises. Dive in and survive the unknown. Be you, Trust in you.

Take to the seas my friends, but beware - they are not always friendly!

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

I have troubles writing long descriptions so I used ChatGPT to help me write some of the descriptions and lore in the game. It was used as a reference, nothing more.

I have used ONLY my own content and ONLY my own algorithm models to generate content from. I wrote my own to be able to use it for this purpose only. I do NOT infringe on ANY creative rights in doing so.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Just Another Day contains GRAPHIC scenes that involve defending against an alien race or in some cases other players. There is no nudity or sexual references of any kind. JAD was developed as a test for humanity.
