What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We chose Early Access because Occulto is an indie adventure game created by a small, dedicated team, and we want to build the final chapters of this journey together with our players.

Following the incredible response to our demo, so many players asked for a way to play the game as soon as possible. Early Access allows us to open our doors to this growing community, expanding our visibility and welcoming player feedback when it matters most.

As a pure point-and-click adventure with unique visual riddles, player feedback helps us balance puzzle difficulty, refine the narrative flow, and polish the final experience. By joining us now, you are directly helping us shape the definitive version of Occulto.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We estimate that Occulto will remain in Early Access for approximately 1.5 to 2 years. Because we are a small independent team crafting hand-drawn levels and intricate puzzles, this timeframe allows us to release new content in cohesive, polished groups of levels while ensuring we have enough time to implement player feedback and properly test each update.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Think of Occulto as an illustrated mystery trilogy: the Early Access version launches with the first two parts of the story fully playable.

We plan for the full version to complete this journey by implementing the final chapters, bringing the game to around 38 planned levels. Our main goal for the final release is to finalize the implementation of the remaining story arcs and deliver overall refinements based on community feedback, including enhanced visual effects, audio polishing, and full optimization.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version is fully playable, stable, and features the first 20 levels of the adventure, comprising a vast array of unique, hand-drawn environments. To give an idea of the scope, some of these levels are expansive and split into multiple interconnected scenes—such as a complex labyrinth level centered around optical illusions and perspective puzzles, which alone spans 5 distinct screens. All core gameplay mechanics, puzzle systems, and atmospheric audio for this segment are fully implemented, offering a polished experience.

Regarding the rest of the game, the entire gameplay has already been fully designed, and all main static assets (such as backgrounds and key environments) are completely drawn up to the final level. At the time of our Early Access launch, development is moving fast: the art team is currently animating and implementing minigames around level 29, while the programming team is actively completing the implementation of levels 21 and 22.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, we want to reward our early supporters. The game will be available at a lower price during Early Access—approximately 15% to 20% cheaper than the final release price.

Please note that any discounts or promotional sales applied during the Early Access period will will be calculated off this lower baseline price. Once the full version launches with all planned levels and the complete story, the price will increase to its final standard rate.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We believe that building Occulto alongside our players is the best way to make the game shine. We will be actively gathering feedback, bug reports, and puzzle-balancing suggestions through our Steam Discussion Boards and our dedicated Reddit community.

We will also share regular development updates, behind-the-scenes content, and progress reports on our social media channels, including X (formerly Twitter), Instagram and our website. We encourage players to share their thoughts, theories, and frustrations with the trickier riddles—your voice will directly influence the polish and fine-tuning of the final levels!”

About This Game

The Journey Begins

Eliot is a young apprentice whose world has been plunged into uncertainty. His Master has mysteriously disappeared from his alchemical studio, leaving behind total disarray and a secret map pointing to an ancient monastery. Now, a powerful and sinister Presence is hunting for the "unwritten book"—a forbidden tome of immense power that was in the Master’s possession.

You must guide Eliot through a fairy-tale world that is as beautiful as it is unsettling. To find your teacher, you will have to face the unknown, outsmart the darkness, and piece together the fragments of a silent, unfolding story.

Gameplay & Core Features

  • Classic Point-and-Click Mechanics: Built on traditional adventure gameplay, players will explore, find interactive objects, manage a custom inventory, and deduce how to alter the environment to clear their path.

  • A Pure Non-Verbal Experience: There are no dialogues, text logs, or voiceovers. The entire narrative, character interactions, and hints are elegantly delivered through custom comic-style thought bubbles, expressive animations, and environmental cues.

  • Intricate Visual Riddles & Logic Puzzles: Challenge your mind with handcrafted, highly integrated enigmas. You will find yourself cracking complex mechanical puzzles, solving ancient element-based riddles, and manipulating unique visual systems embedded into the hand-drawn backgrounds.

  • Linear but Expansive Storytelling: While the game follows a cohesive, linear narrative arc, many areas offer deep, multi-screen exploration. Players will visit grand structures like a mysterious monastery, navigate intricate labyrinths, and explore dense, interconnected urban areas such as the bustling city of Darash.

  • A Fairytale Mystery Aesthetic: Every environment, creature, and animation has been meticulously crafted by hand, creating a unique, evocative, and hauntingly beautiful visual style inspired by old illustrated books.

  • Dedicated Custom Soundtrack: Every chapter features an original, custom-scored soundtrack meticulously crafted alongside the game’s artwork to heighten the emotional weight and immersion of Eliot’s quest.

Features and Content to Expect

By embarking on this journey, players will experience a fully realized interactive story that tests their deduction skills. Progress through the levels is achieved through classic adventure game logic—distracting characters, using magical items like a secret-revealing magnifying lens, and altering mechanical traps to access hidden sanctuaries.

A Labor of Love

Occulto is being developed by a dedicated two-person team passionate about reviving the golden era of artistic graphic adventures. As our debut title, every background, character sprite, and animation frame has been completely drawn from scratch, offering a true "handmade" passion project born from our love for high-consequence puzzles and visual storytelling.

Listen to the silence. Solve the mystery. Find the Master.
