What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The Steam Early Access program is one of the most effective tools for contributing to the development of a video game. If you support us you will make a decisive contribution to the development of Vorax and you can help us create one of the most exciting hardcore horror survival games ever conceived.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The Vorax project is designed to be supported for a long time. A rough estimate right now is at least a year. We have dozens of gameplay ideas in the prototype phase that we would like to bring to the attention of our fans and furthermore the world of Vorax will be enriched with additional quests that will support the main narrative.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Early Access Version will be released when it will be possible to complete the first two parts of main story.
We plan to include in final version the main questline with all 3 acts, several additional quests and new locations to explore in the large 10 square kilometer map.

Those locations will be added one after enother in the Early Access and will be completely playable in the final version:
  • the electric central.
  • the school.
  • the sanctuary
  • the olive farm.
  • the graveyard.
  • the biolab

Furthermore, several secondary caves and locations and other gameplay elements are planned in the early access development phase which are now in the prototype phase and which we prefer to focus on only once we have received feedback from the players.
This is an absolutely non-complete list of all the things that we plan to include:

  • First-person surveillance drone and kamikaze drone mechanics. To be found in game or craftable.
  • Flamethrower and fire-spreading weapons mechanics. Dynamics of fire spread on enemies and objects.
  • mechanics of reflector light and intense light sources which stun/blind photosensitive enemies. Craftable. Need to be powered by energy network.
  • New vehicles with emphasys on military ones
  • New secondary bosses
  • New monsters new puzzles and new Npcs.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early access version actually ( Version 0.9.0. ) has approximately 70% of the main quest line currently playable.
Actually the game features:

  • A large and detailed game environment on a 10 square km map.
  • an island you can explore plus dozens of houses and secondary locations.
  • 12 diferent enemy types each one with its unique attack pattern ( more to come )
  • 4 Bosses and 3 secondary ones.
  • Buildable barricades, fences, traps, sticky bombs, explosive bombs, molotov.
  • Craftable tools and melee weapons / cutting trees and bushes mechanics
  • Hunting and cooking mechanics / Healing mechanics
  • A day-night cycle affecting gameplay with most enemies being photosensitive and drakness affecting your mental sanity.
  • dynamic weather system affecting gameplay with fog and infected rain dynamic
  • 10 different ranged weapons and over a dozen of melee ones

An experienced survival horror player can complete the build so far in 10-12 hours. If you want to explore all the secondary locations you can double the playtime.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The price will increase once the game leaves Early Access program.”

About This Game

Craft, Fortify, Survive.

Welcome to Vorax, an Island of Horror and Survival

Vorax is an open-world survival horror game that plunges you into the heart of a Mediterranean island overrun by a mysterious infection. As a mercenary sent to investigate, what was meant to be a reconnaissance mission quickly turns into a fight for your life. The island is a living nightmare, inhabited by grotesque mutants, contaminated wildlife, and dark secrets waiting to be uncovered. Your objective: survive, adapt, and unravel the sinister truth behind Virus V.

Survive by Any Means Necessary

In Vorax, survival is not guaranteed. You must scavenge for supplies, craft tools, build shelters, and fight against overwhelming odds. Navigate a vast open-world environment, from abandoned farms to eerie laboratories, each holding pieces of the story and challenges that will test your limits. Utilize makeshift weapons, makeshift barricades, and explore the infected zones to push deeper into the island’s darkest corners.

Dynamic Day-Night Cycle & Adaptive Threats

The island’s day and night cycle impacts the threats you face. By day, you’ll explore, gather supplies, and prepare for nightfall, when the mutated horrors become even more aggressive. You must decide whether to fight, hide, or simply survive until dawn. Vorax is about more than combat—it's about outsmarting the infection, managing your resources, and making hard choices.

The Difference Between the Basic (Demo) Version and the Full Version

We believe in giving players a real taste of what Vorax has to offer, which is why we’re proud to present two different versions of the game: the Basic (Demo) Version and the Full Version. Both versions provide access to the entire game world, allowing you to explore every zone, face every enemy, and experience every story element without major content restrictions.

The only difference between the Basic and Full Versions lies in saving your progress. In the Basic Version, you can only save at checkpoints, creating an intense survival experience where every encounter is high-stakes, and each trip to a safe area is a moment of hard-earned relief. This approach adds tension to your exploration, making every decision matter more.

In contrast, the Full Version gives you the freedom to save anywhere, at any time. This is a complete game changer. It allows you to take risks, explore freely, and engage with the world in a less restrictive way. Whether you have just a few minutes or several hours to play, you can choose how to progress without the anxiety of reaching the next checkpoint. This freedom transforms how you tackle the challenges of Vorax, making it accessible for all play styles.

Constant Updates, Shared Content

Importantly, both the Basic and Full Versions are identical in content. You’ll receive every update, patch, and improvement at the same time, whether you are playing the Basic Version or have upgraded to the Full Version. Your feedback from both versions will help us shape the future of Vorax, and we are committed to ensuring that all players have the most up-to-date, improved experience possible.

Key Features of Vorax:

  • Survival Horror at its Core: Fight for your life against grotesque creatures in an environment where every resource counts, and every corner hides danger.

  • Open World Exploration: Traverse a large, detailed Mediterranean island teeming with danger, secrets, and resources waiting to be discovered.

  • Dynamic Day-Night Cycle: Day and night bring different threats and opportunities. Plan your actions carefully, as the infected become more aggressive after dark.

  • Crafting and Building: Scavenge for materials, craft makeshift tools and weapons, and build barricades to fend off the horrors lurking in the dark.

  • Infected Zones and Nests: Explore the deadly nests where Virus V has taken hold, cloning life in grotesque forms. The infected zones are dynamic, always unpredictable, and full of challenges.

  • Different Saving Systems: Experience the intense survival tension of checkpoint saves in the Basic Version, or embrace the freedom to save anywhere in the Full Version.

  • Shared Updates: No matter which version you play, you will always get every patch, update, and improvement, ensuring the most current Vorax experience.

Why Your Support Matters

By upgrading to the Full Version, you’re not just gaining the ability to save anywhere—you’re supporting the future development of Vorax. Your feedback, support, and engagement help us craft the ultimate survival horror experience. We are on this journey together, and your support is what drives us forward.

Prepare yourself, mercenary. The island is alive, infected, and out for blood. Will you uncover its secrets, or become just another victim of its voracious hunger? Play Vorax today and see if you have what it takes to survive.

Do You Have the Grit to Survive?

In VORAX, your wits, will, and courage are the only things standing between life and a gruesome fate. Prepare to face a relentless enemy that hunts you relentlessly. Can you survive the horrors of the island and uncover its darkest secrets? The challenge awaits.
