What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are building a game with a multiplayer game mode and the best way to polish that game mode is to allow people in while we can still iterate and get their feedback on what is fun and enjoyable.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“With early access starting in May, we are planning to be in early access for 9 to 12 months. The core of the game is finished, all mechanics and systems and all the finer details, but we want to use this early access period to apply a fine layer of polish and to also validate that the game is indeed fun.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“At launch we plan to have quarterly content updates that feature new maps, puzzles, and game play scenarios based on all the lessons we have learned through early access. Early access is a framework of our game systems and features, over the course of early access they will be polished and streamlined for full release. Part of the new content, aside from polish from the community will feature collectables, cosmetics and a perk system we want to have ready on release.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version features a fully functional game, including the start to a single player mode that goes in deeper to the world and lore that makes up the The Outsiders game. We hope to polish this single player experience in addition based on feedback from the community. In terms of bugs most of the critical bugs that we can find on our end should be fixed and the game should be smooth and moderately optimized. That being said, we really appreciate everyone who is able and willing to come in and help us find those really obscure bugs, getting us the data we need to reach a really nice level of polish.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to release the game with a 10% discount while in early access. While we do hope to expand the content later after launch, most of it will come in the form of free content patches and purchasable cosmetics. We know, ew, but we don’t want to put any barriers on content in the form of dlc or worse end up splitting up players based on who has what content pack. We think cosmetics are a nice middle ground, it doesn’t lock anyone out but we still have a way to support content production.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We already have a discord community and would love for people to join in on the conversations, use the bug reporting channels, and hang out in general. We would love to do live Q and A or streams and play with devs nights.
If discord isn’t your thing, we will also keep track of all the posts and reports going on in the steam page community.

What players can expect to see for content development are polls, questions and other forms of us trying to see what the community wants to see first. Maybe a brand new challenge in an existing map, a new map, maybe a new item or mechanic. Regardless we have lots of thoughts and ideas but we are hoping to produce the most requested content first.”

About This Game

The Human Show

The Human Show is a spiritual successor to "The Outsiders" from the first DreadX Collection as a conflicting, collaborative asymmetrical multiplayer horror experience. Work together with other contestants to solve puzzles, avoid traps, and deal with a variety of otherworldly creatures each ‘“episode.” To keep the ratings up, the Game Master must not just torture contestants, but also collaborate with them while utilizing randomized trials and challenges every match. Plenty more are planned throughout Early Access to keep contestants expecting the unexpected

Game Pillars

Variety
Matches consist of three maps that selects a challenge(s) from a list of curated tasks and events. Each map is an episode in a season of The Human Show. Our intent is to make a solid batch of content that is presented differently each time. Every match is different, but the core game loop remains, so that contestants never really know what to expect every episode.

Strategy and Tactics

Many of the underlying systems have team oriented play at their heart. The Game Master may need to work alongside Contestants at certain moments to even the odds or force them to split up in certain situations, adding tension and more opportunities for strategic play. This doesn’t limit the killer to a specific playstyle, but to give them a sandbox full of tasks and tools to play with to their liking.

Game Features

  • Survive otherworldly threats with 2-5 contestants and one Game Master
  • Craft and place traps as Contestants to defend against the abductors and their creatures
  • Adapt to an ever growing pool of puzzles, tasks, and locations as every round will play out differently with more secrets to discover
  • Discover 80s themed elements full of nostalgia hidden from floor to ceiling
  • Brought to life in Unreal Engine 5
  • Embody the deadly Game Master and create an interstellar game show to remember for eternity
  • Jump scare Contestants as the Game Master, place traps, and try to keep those pesky humans on their toes
  • Spawn in as other controllable monsters with their own abilities like the skinwalker to blend in with the humans, or a face-latching spider
  • Shake things up with a mix-n-match of arena-wide effects, like a fog of darkness or randomly warping Contestants.
  • Balance slaughter and entertainment. Help the contestants solve some puzzles when they are struggling, then betray that trust at the final showdown. Everyone loves bloodshed!
