What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We're making a game with TONS of weapons that have lots of unique interactions. Because of that, we feel like balance is incredibly important. Our decision to launch Swordcery in Early Access comes from our belief that our community has consistently helped with balance and together we make the game stronger. We have a clear vision for what Swordcery should be and our playtests/demos have shown that players not only connect with that vision, but also provide invaluable feedback that helps us refine and polish.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our current goal is to release Swordcery 1.0 within 8 to 12 months of entering Early Access. However, because development timelines can be influenced by player feedback, financial situations, and our desire to reach a level of polish we’re truly satisfied with, we’ll continue to reassess our plans as development progresses. Throughout Early Access, we’ll be as transparent as possible about our roadmap and updates.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“First and foremost, we plan to complete the 4th and final level of the game with its unique enemies and final boss. Along with that here are some possible additions we are aiming for:

· More swords and relics
· More polish and balance
· Addition of the “Dagger” as a new Sword Class that has its own playstyle complete with unique light attacks/heavy attack options and upgrades
· Expanded NPC interactions including more lore, story progression, and unlocks
· “Fate Levels” - A mechanic that will allow players to increase the difficulty of the game in various ways
· A more in-depth elemental system for elemental damage
· Minibosses
· Localization for additional languages

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Swordcery’s core mechanics and gameplay loop is in a state which we feel is representative of the final game. The game has an ample amount of play time when you factor in how long each run currently takes + the skill tree / other unlocks.

As a quick overview of the Early Access, you can currently:
· Slash your way through 3 out of the 4 levels, complete with their own environment, unique enemies, and boss encounters.
· Discover and wield around 40 swords all with a unique Swordcery attack
· Master the 6 different Sword Classes that each sword belongs to. Each Sword Class has its own playstyle differentiated by a unique light combo and heavy attacks
· Utilize 12 Ethereal Steel Upgrades that alter the light and heavy attacks of Sword Classes
· Find over 100 different passive relics during a run to craft a powerful builds
· Spend points in the Divine Obelisk Skill Tree on 40+ roguelite upgrade options that permanently upgrade your character
· Engage in some banter with the NPC characters and learn a bit of their lore.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“As we approach the launch of Swordcery’s 1.0 version, we will likely be raising the price to reflect the additions and improvements to the game. The currently lower Early Access price is reflective of the game still being in-development, needing a few parts that would contribute to the overall experience, and of course the on-going balance that will be happening.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We’re ALWAYS open to feedback from the community and have a feedback form on the main menu which you can use at any time to tell us about bugs, improper balance, performance issues, or you can even pitch us some crazy sword ideas to put into the game!

We welcome you to join us on this journey to shape Swordcery into something truly awesome and look forward to hearing your thoughts!

About This Game

Test your mettle (but also your metal) as you discover and unleash the power behind a multitude of magical swords to defeat an otherworldly Celestial evil! Your quest will challenge your reactions, lead you through treacherous biomes, and pit you against the most formidable enemies and bosses.

A giant blade has plunged into the world of Armorial, bringing a hail of smaller blades along with it. The calamitous sword seems to be draining the power of the planet itself, and with each passing day, the rain of swords grows heavier and heavier. To undo this vile corruption, you’ll play as Colt, an unwitting hero who has gained the ability to wield the fallen blades. It's time to make a stand against the Celestial evil that seeks to destroy the kingdom!

As you venture forth, each new sword you find will come with a unique ability, aka its Swordcery. These abilities allow you to perform magical feats like: hurling your sword out in boomerang-like fashion, thundering down as a bolt of lightning, opening up hellfire fissures, or summoning a ring of protective icy swordflakes!

Every blade you find is categorized into a Sword Class, which has its own set of offensive maneuvers. From specific combos to unique abilities, each Sword Class may be more advantageous due to the terrain or combat situation. It is up to you to master and acknowledge which Sword Class's attributes and attacks will work in unison along with your mighty Swordcery abilities. Enemy encounters will test your ability to recognize patterns, reactions to telegraphed attacks, your ability to utilize both melee and various magical attacks, as well as your resource management skills while in the heat of battle.

Each new run, you can expect to discover new swords, find various relics to add to your playstyle, choose new sword class upgrades, and trek through procedurally generated dungeons.
