What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Defend from Candyland is early access as whilst the main game is there, we plan to add more features to it as well as improvments based on your feedback!

As mentioned below there are more additions that are currently planned for Defend from Candyland (Environmental effects, User abilities etc) but we also want to hear from you! We plan to use the feedback we get from yourselves to help shape the future of this game! So, what would you like to see?”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“This game is only planned to be in early access for about a year, this should give plenty of time to add more levels as well as features suggested from you! However, dependent on exactly what you all want from the game, I am happy to put more time in to add in even more features!”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In the full version we plan to have more levels as well as achievements for you to work towards. Currently we plan to add multiple new assets including, environmental effects, User Abilities and a level editor, I will explain more about those below but what do you want to see?

Environmental Effects

Making certain levels be effected by their weather. So, a snowy/icy level could speed up all of the ground based enemies, as they slip across the floor. A rocky cave however, would not have much room for trees/towers, so the majority of the floor will be covered in rocks. This would mean that you have to concentrate more on making the most out of the trees you have, rather than planting extras.

User Abilities

These would be extra attacks/effects that you can utlise aside from your planted trees. So, a large damaging attack on one enemy or another that would hit multiples in a wider berth. Different things like that, are there any user abilities you would like to see?

Level Editor

The ability to build your own levels, choose the environment, place the trees and blocks that will be there at the start of the game. Then have some enemies run through it!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“All of the towers and enemies are currently in and working. They all have their correct artwork and work properly. As well as this, we have a number of levels already built, along with a level grading system. Each of the levels have different waves and the environment/background changes every 20 levels. This will be continuing when more levels are added. The levels have 3 apples to collect, you collect 1 for completing the level, another for finishing at 50% health or above and a final one for finishing without losing any health. This percentage may change in the future, based on feedback. There is also an endless mode present, this mode consists of one level that has 1 spawning jelly and 1 destination tree, you build all of the trees and try to stop an onslaught of never-ending candy. This candy gets tougher and faster each wave, how many can you beat?”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the game will be cheaper whilst in early access. This discount is being awarded whilst the game is still having more large features added along with the suggestions from the players. When the game leaves early access, the new price will reflect all of the new work that has gone into it and the features suggested by the players.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“A working game is already made, I am doing this early access to allow people that want to get involved to play the game and give feedback. This feedback will be read through, listened to and then implemented into the game. I want to know what you think, what's missing? what's good? what's bad?

This game will be shaped by you, the players!”

About This Game

The trees are under attack from the evil candy, you need to Defend from Candyland! Build up a plant based defence to protect the trees from both land and air. Try to overwhelm them by planting the whole field with your defences, or prioritize a few choice plants and level them up, the choice is yours!

There are different characters within Defend from Candyland, so lets meet some of them!

Oracle Tree

The Oracle Tree is a very wise leader to the tree village. He has requested help from the outside world in dealing with this candy threat. He will help you understand the rules of the battlefield.

Miss Applebee

Miss Applebee is a sweet young Apple tree who runs the local shop. She can upgrade your trees or unlock new types for you to use but it'll cost you some apples!

In this Tower Defence game you need to use your different trees to build mazes to slow down and destroy the onslaught of attacking candy. You have different trees at your disposal, each with their own strengths.

The Peashooter is cheap to plant, with low damage and quick firing. The Peashooter can target both ground and air sweets.

Slow Banana

The Banana tree does no damage but it slows down all of the enemies it hits. The Banana can only target ground sweets.

Cherry Tree

The Cherry tree is expensive to plant, with high damage and slow firing. The Cherry Bombs that get thrown explode and damage all the sweets within the area. The Cherry Tree can only target ground sweets.

Carrot Field

The Carrot Field does moderate damage at a moderate speed. The Carrots can only target air sweets.

Boreal Tree

The Boreal Tree is one of the trees that can be purchased from Miss Applebee. Snow encircles the tree slowing all the sweets that try to pass through it.

Pollen Trap

The Pollen Trap is one of the trees that can be purchased from Miss Applebee. The Pollen Trap lays out pollen constantly, which causes all of the sweets with faces, within its area, to sneeze, stopping them briefly.

There are multiple different enemy candies that will attack you, these have their own strengths and weaknesses too.

Little Jellies

The little Jellies are slow but weak ground enemies. Their path is shaped by the trees you plant as well as the blocks that already exist within the level.

Jelly Beans

The Jelly Beans are faster but still weak ground enemies. Their path is shaped by the trees you plant as well as the blocks that already exist within the level.

Gummy Bears

The Gummy Bears are slow but powerful ground enemies. When defeated, these gummy bears split into seperate head and legs, watch out! Their path is shaped by the trees you plant as well as the blocks that already exist within the level.

The Gummy Bear heads are slow but powerful ground enemies. Their path is shaped by the trees you plant as well as the blocks that already exist within the level.

The Gummy Bear legs are slow but powerful ground enemies. Their path is shaped by the trees you plant as well as the blocks that already exist within the level.

Flying Saucers

The flying saucers are moderate paced and powerful air enemies. These will fly over all forms of blocks and take the quickes path to your tree bases, be careful!

Tree Bases

In every level there is at least 1 tree base, this is what you need to protect. The enemy candies will travel towards the tree bases and will deal damage to you once they reach them. Stop them at all costs!

When an enemy sweet hits your tree bases, you health will go down. This tree shows you your health, try to stop it from getting destroyed!

Work your way through the levels to try your skills against numerous preset map layouts and minion waves, or head into endless mode, where the waves are endless, and the board is completely clear for you to make your own, how long can you last? This top down tower defence game will keep you occupied for hours, and with the cute pixel graphics it is suitable for all ages.
