Why Early Access?

“We chose to release Subspace Discovery into Access because we want you, the player, to be involved in the development process. Your voice counts and we want to make sure that the game is made for you. Early Access allows us to test game mechanics and server technology with a larger player base and gather valuable feedback from our community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Subspace Discovery is planned to be in Early Access for 6 to 8 month. However, the duration could be longer depending on how you, the players and community, shape the game. Our goal is to create the best possible experience for you, and we will continue to develop and improve the game in Early Access until we achieve that.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our plan is to make combat more tactical by adding active and passive skills for you to use. We also want to enable the formation of Alliances and provide rewards for Corporations and players. The tech tree might see expansion in scope and depth, possibly with offence and defense. Additionally, we plan to add conflict between player-controlled corporations and expand on quests and world events. We will continue to improve these features and more throughout the Early Access, in the full version of the game and beyond.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of Subspace Discovery is fully playable with most features already implemented. This includes, but is not limited to: Exploration, Combat, Mining, Research, Custom Ships, Base-Building, Corporation, World-Events
However, these features are not yet refined and we are working to improve them. Our game has been in development since 2018 and uses a custom engine for the game and custom servers. Everything is optimized to run fast and to use as little RAM or disk space as possible, resulting nearly no loading times. We want to include as many players as possible, by reducing the minimum system requirements as much as possible, while allowing to scale up as needed.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“During Early Access, we will offer an Early Access License which is only available while in Early Access and grants many benefits, some of which will even remain with the full version.
Our current plan is to keep the pricing roughly the same for a Season Pass that will last three months. Additional in-game purchases might be added throughout development and post-launch. Our aim is to provide a fair landscape for all players to enjoy and support each other. But since we consider the community, the shape of the final pricing depends on the evolution.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want to involve you, our players and community, in our development process by starting with using Steam Discussions Forums and Discord. These platforms will allow us to communicate with you and gather valuable feedback to help us improve the game. We encourage you to share your thoughts and ideas with us so that we can create the best possible experience for everyone.”
