What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I want to create challenging and satisfying experience of traversing terrain and overcoming obstacles with sphere. Initial feedback from a small group of friends was enough to get the project started. However, to make it an experience I would like it to become, I have to collect feedback from much bigger group of players.
Where do we start:
  • Core of the gameplay – moving through arenas, to capture checkpoints.
  • Multiplayer – compete with others (alone or in teams).
  • 9 different arenas – they were designed to enable you to experience different game styles and find your favorite.
Where do we go:
  • More arenas – some similar to current ones and some completely new.
  • Some more mechanics – new environment elements or even new gamemodes.
  • Fun and satisfying game experience.
How do we get there:
  • I intend to use your feedback to design next arenas – I want to know which elements you liked the most and what new things you would like to see.
  • Your opinions on game will help me balance difficulty – some levels will be designed for relax and some for challenge.
  • Our test multiplayer matches often resulted in surprising discoveries, which were later used to design new challenges – the more people play and experiment, the better the final game will be.
  • Bug fixing.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Full version should be ready somewhere about Q1 2022.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Planned features are:
  • Steam integration - leaderboards (best scores), achievements.
  • More maps.
  • New mechanics.
  • General polish and bugfixing.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“You get 10 different playable levels, in single and multiplayer mode.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Single and multiplayer modes are ready, but current version is not finished game – it's purpose is to present you an idea what I want it to be. Price in Early Access is lower because you buy something that is not a full product. There will be more maps, so that game will take longer time to be completed in singleplayer and give more variety to multiplayer games. I won't give a specific number here, because it's impossible to say – one map can be more complex than few smaller ones.
Moreover I have some ideas for mechanics and features, but their implementation depends on players opinions and direction the development will take. However, if they are implemented, amount of ways you will be able to play the game will increase significcantly, increasing value of the game and its price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Players' feedback will influence way of designing next maps and features. Knowledge of things you like or don't like about maps I created so far, would be essential for creating new ones. You can also share your ideas for new arenas. I also had different opinions about game difficulty – some maps pose real challenge, while other are fine for relaxing rolling – sharing your opinion will make some hard decisions easier for me. It's also likely you will find new ways of completing the levels, which may inspire me for new types of structures, etc.
Feedback may be provided throught Steam forums.”

About This Game

In Sphere Arena you take control of a ball to roll, jump or slide through non-linear levels in order to visit all checkpoints scattered across the maps in industrial setting. Improve your skill in single-player or compete with other players in multi-player mode.

Key features

  • Non-linear levels - try to find best path, that suits you most.
  • Physics-based jumping - you can't alter your velocity once mid-air. You have to plan ahead.

  • Singleplayer mode - complete levels as quickly as you can.
  • Multiplayer mode - compete against each other or form teams for more tactical gameplay.
  • Different game modes - adjust rules for best experience.

Level structure

There's no obvious path to follow. You have to search map for checkpoints and find route to them. Some areas are harder to reach than others. Moreover, overall level difficulties differ significantly.

Multiplayer

Play with strangers or create private server and invite your friends to join you. You can play against each other or form teams. Teams allow more tactical gameplay, when you share tasks between team members.
