About This Game

GROSS is a Tower Defense / First Person Shooter with a few new and unique gameplay mechanics.

Construction vs Combat

Just like in other Tower Defense games, the core gameplay involves building elaborate defenses with different towers/turrets, walls and traps. Attackers storm your defenses in waves.

The construction phase allows you to build a maze that the attackers have to conquer. You have almost complete freedom to build whatever you want, wherever you want. There is no time limit, and turrets or other objects placed in the current construction phase can be sold and will be refunded completely. The construction phase focuses on giving you all the tools to make the obstacle run as hard as possible for the enemies with no time pressure.

Once the combat starts, the game turns into a different beast. Combat is fast paced and requires you to make split second decisions. Often you have to decide whether you want to focus on supporting the turrets in stopping the current onslaught, or you want to focus on gathering more cash so your can bolster your future defenses.

Wait, cash?

Every kill rewards you money which you will need to buy turrets and use certain abilities, but it doesn't just magically appear in your bank. This IS a realistic game, after all. You have to go and grab it, before someone else does. Keep in mind that running around with too much money in your pocket comes with it's own issues, and you're not the only one looking out for a bit of extra cash.

How far along is the game now, and when will it be released?

We're currently in a prototyping stage where we are deciding which features, turrets, abilities, enemies, etc. we want to include. We plan to release a demo of the game in early 2022 and to release the full game by summer 2022. The demo will feature a small handful of levels and access to most of the arsenal.

Please keep in mind that anything you see here is subject to change (hopefully for the better). All footage currently shown is from the level Dead End, which will feature in the demo, and is only one of many levels that will be very different both in looks and gameplay.
