What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access provides a great way for The Crash Test Engineers of The Crash Effects Inc. community to get involved in making the gameplay as fun and exciting as possible! We want to build a game in which like minded engineering and tinker types alike let their imaginations run wild!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game will be in Early Access until all core features of the gameplay are developed and are in stable condition. There is a set scope of features that Code Storm Studios intends to include in the final version of the game. More details regarding the full list will be provided in the near future. We also plan to include several ideas that the community comes up with as the game matures alongside the core features discussed previously. We anticipate the game will be in early access for six to eight months after the first Early Access Release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Though the Early Access release will have most of the core features intended for the Crash Effects Inc. gameplay; There are still features that will not be present in the initial release. The following features are just some which will be added over time in future releases and into the finally release of the game:

  • Overhead Ceiling Crane Interactivity.
  • Slow motion Rewind / replay of accidents.
  • Extra campaign missions.
  • Special DLCs that will add extra vehicle designs and special crash test missions/gameplay.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Presently, the Early Access version is still under development. As the Beta Early Access release approaches more details will be provided on an official release date to the public for Early Access.

The following key features have been implemented:
  • Core Vehicle Build System - construction, stylization, etc.
  • Crash Test Facility Sandbox Mode - Crash Floor Preparation, Vehicle Preparation, Vehicle Launching and crash testing, vehicle evaluation.
  • All Initial Interactive Gameplay Objects - Portable Crash Barrier, Cameras, In Game Tablet, etc.
  • Main Menu / Core Game Loops

Before the Initial Release the following has yet to be done:
  • Vehicle Content Creation - We want to get the community involved in designing the content for the various types of vehicle body styles and related parts.
  • Campaign Modes - Roughly four to eight campaign scenarios will be available upon initial release of the game. There will be planned community involvement in the creation of some of the planned scenarios.
  • Crash Testing Special Effects - Some of the vehicle physics are still undergoing work, visual breaking effects, etc..
  • Build Checklist system - The core of this is complete, there is specific checklist components still under development.
  • Tutorial Content - The game will include a descriptive an useful tutorial system that has been implemented. The tutorial content needs populated.
  • Alpha / Beta Release bug fixes and testing.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, The game will have a set price and that will be the intended price before and after the final release of the product. There will also be DLC content packages made available over time to enhance the gameplay experience.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“There are many decisions yet to be made for the final version of the game. Code Storm Studios will engage the community for help with the various design decisions through a number of ways:

  • Design Challenges - such as a vehicle design competition being planned.
  • Community Polls - Key design decisions for gameplay will be queried from the community on Steam Community Discussions.
  • Player Ideas / Suggestions - Posted on Discord, Steam Community Discussions or sent directly to ideasandbugs@codestormstudios.com will be reviewed and implemented as seen fit.

About This Game

Founded in 2012, Crash Effects Inc. has specialized in helping vehicle manufactures design and test the vehicles of tomorrow! Now it's your turn to take the seat of a Vehicle Crash Test Engineer and design the safe rides of tomorrow!

Build It!

Build your design from the wheels up sparing no detail untouched in the design dome. Meet the specifications required by the manufacturer's mission or build your own crazy creations. With no details left to spare, everything from the type of vehicle frame used to the paint color of the tailgate is up to you! With over 150+ vehicle parts and many more to come the possibilities are endless!

Stage It!

Prepare for impact! Well not just yet. As an official Crash Test Engineer you will need to set the stage for your momentous event. Configure the crash floor with a variety of cement barriers, blockades, barrels and a few other wacky items. Maneuver the 750 ton portable barrier into its final resting position. Aim the high speed cameras placed throughout the facility to ensure every angle of impact is captured. There's even a tunnel that can be moved into one of five possible angles of attack!

Load Em Up!

In the vehicle bay, configure the vehicle selections for impact. Place five different types of crash test equipment on your crash test subjects. To buckle or not to buckle is up to you, with four unique crash test dummies. You choose when and where our friend "Steve" the dummy gets seated. You can even bring his whole family along for the ride too!

5.4.3.2.1!

Right then, Let it rip! Flip the switch to engage the cinematic stage lighting. Press the start button and send your creations hurtling down the crash test halls at speeds over 60 MPH or 100 KPH! Let the carnage unfold at your own pace: in slow motion or high speed. Watch as the glass breaks, metal crumples, airbags deploy, and vehicle parts fly!

Grab the Data!

Once the lights come back on, it's time to collect the critical impact data. Use the Measurement Master M2000 to record changes to your creation's shape after the crash. Download the onboard crash data from the Data Logger and Crash Test Dummies to determine if your occupants survived. Finally compile your results and see how your vehicle creation’s ratings match up. Only then, will you see whether or not you have what it takes to be a Crash Effects Inc. Crash Test Engineer!

Happy Crash Testing!
