What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I have big plans for the game, but with that come some problems. I try to fix as many bugs as possible, but some can still find their way in.

In addition, the game is still at the beginning as far as the planned content is concerned. The good thing is that I can develop the game together with the community in order to make it as appealing as possible for everyone without losing sight of the actual goal of the game.
While we're at it ... one day it will hopefully become an Open Galaxy Sandbox with tons of possibilities.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“How long it stays in early access depends on a few factors. On the one hand there is of course the motivation, but also the aspect of whether I can actually achieve what I have planned. As you have probably noticed that sounds more like a dream, but I will still do everything I can to make this dream come true.

So if everything goes as planned, the game will probably leave early access with the start of the Open Galaxy in about 3 years and continue to be provided with updates that expand the galaxy as it simply offers endless possibilities.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version should hopefully be an Coop open sci-fi fantasy galaxy in which different races like Elves, Dwarfs, Orcs and of course Humans fight for supremacy with magic and technology. You will have tons of opportunities to interfere.

The start will probably be on a lonely planet where you first work your way up in rpg style. That means finding better equipment, leveling up, collecting money and then buying, stealing or building a spaceship. You may also win one in ingame activities.

Now you have a huge Galaxy open to you with many new possibilities.
Do you want to become a merchant? Mercenary? Explorer?
Found your own faction?
Join one?
Or maybe just become a pirate?
Everything is open to you.
The focus is now more on your power. You can hardly achieve anything on your own but with influence and entourage it looks completely different.

You will be able to command a fleet of any kind and use it however you want.
Conquer planets or even destroy them. It's up to you. Do you want to bring peace or a cleansing of all living things from the galaxy?
If it is the latter, you are probably not alone ... Beyond space and time there is the realm of demons which over time will invade the universe known to you more and more often.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“At the moment the game is only an arena mode to test and improve the basic controls and multiplayer, and then to integrate further modes like spaceship races or sport games and some other common and unique modes which will later all work together and pave the way to the Open Galaxy.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“If possible, the base game becomes more expensive with every major update. After all, the scope will increase dramatically. That means the earlier you buy the less you pay because all further updates will be free if everything stays that way.
However, that depends entirely on how the game and its financial situation will develop.
But one is for sure. In one way or another, the price will be higher than early access release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I try to incorporate ideas from the community through feedback in my if they get enough support and they fit into the game.
In addition, finding a bug in game is much easier with a community and an active community is an enormous motivational boost to keep on going!”

About This Game

Empower is a physics based multiplayer VR PC arena sandbox in which you can fight with firearms and melee weapons against or with AI and other players in different modes. All of this takes place in zero gravity and ground based arenas. You can switch between PC and VR mode at any time without restarting the game.

You can change almost everything during the round without having to create a new lobby. Be it the mode itself, or the number of AIs and their difficulty or how many players and spectators are allowed to join and more.

The arena also offers training opportunities as there is a complex AI that can block projectiles and parry swords, evade dangerous attacks and act tactically.

Of course, you also have the ability to block projectiles or enemy weapons because everything is based on physics.
This opens up a new world for physics-based sword fighting against real players.
