Miksi Early Access?

The Doors of Trithius is being developed with a long-term plan in mind, inspired by games like Dwarf Fortress where new features were continually added over many years. The goal is for a truly massive RPG world with new features to discover on every playthrough.

Now that core mechanics are in place, early access will help balance around community feedback. There are many complex and emergent gameplay features yet to be added, and I'm excited to have the community join in this process.

Miten kauan peli tulee arviolta olemaan Early Access -vaiheessa?

Our initial goal was for a v1.0 release by the end of 2023. We're now targeting a v1.0 release for the mid 2024. Post-launch, you can still expect ongoing development, but updates will be larger and less frequent as we focus on substantial content and feature additions.

Millä tavoin lopullinen versio tulee eroamaan Early Access -versiosta?

An ambitious number of updates are planned including: new dungeon types & biomes, guilds and guild-quests, new skills & abilities, and whole other realms to explore. Check the roadmap on the community board for details of planned updates.

Mikä on Early Access -version tila tällä hetkellä?

The current version is a good reflection of what the final product will play and feel like. There is nothing missing that would make a playthrough heavily unbalanced. You won't click a door and the game says "error, this part isn't finished".

There are a few major features yet to be added, but the bulk of upcoming content will be to add variation: more dungeons, monsters, abilities, skills, and biomes. The foundation is there, now it's about adding variety and depth.

  • A majority of melee classes and skills are implemented along with 14 non-combat skills.
  • The player starts on an island with 3 enemy factions occupying numerous dungeons and nearby towns to trade with.
  • The game can be beaten! To win you must defeat Moreld Rothk and his wizard tower, and piece together the artifact of ascension.
  • Saving/loading along with an autosave feature is implemented.

The Doors of Trithius is a difficult game, but also reasonably balanced, allowing for a variety of player builds and approaches to victory.

Expect save files to break when the game is updated!. Since the world needs to regenerate to add new content, save files will break with most updates.

The price will be raised on release.

Updates are heavily prioritized based on community feedback. Several new features have already been added thanks to player suggestions (the skill point rework, new abilities), and commonly requested items are implemented before others.

Suggestions and feedback are always welcome - share your thoughts through the community page here or on the discord server. Player input is seriously considered, often impacting even the next update.

The Doors of Trithius combines classic roguelike ruthlessness with the freedom and depth of an expansive, open-world RPG.

Explore a vast, procedurally generated world that doesn't hold your hand. Here you'll need all your skill and strategic prowess to overcome the ancient dungeons, faction armies, and wandering behemoths found in the unpredictable and mysterious realm of Enalia.

Game World

  • Random Generation: Each adventure is unique as towns, dungeons, and the world map are newly generated on every playthrough.
  • Exploration: Navigate a vast, dangerous world where survival is key. Establish campsites, forage for sustenance, and manage your weariness to endure the wilderness. Every tile on the world map can be explored and persists across time.
  • Warring Factions: As factions war for territory, regions on the world map evolve. These conflicts impact a region's prosperity, affecting available goods and quests in its settlements. Join battles to influence the outcome.
  • Varied Enemy Types: Over 100 unique enemy types with customized AI challenge your skills and adaptability.
  • Challenging Dungeons: Test your mettle against 8 unique dungeon types, each with custom layouts and room types, including castles, caves, fortresses, hideouts, and temples.

Combat & Skills

  • Turn-Based Combat: Our tick-based time system brings a fresh twist to turn-based combat. Turn priority hinges on your movement, weapon speed, and action speed, emphasizing the importance of tactical decisions.
  • Combat Options: Customize your strategy with over 200 combat abilities, and 12 weapon skill types, each with a unique playstyle.
  • Dungeon Events: The world is brimming with life and at times, special events can trigger in dungeons requiring quick thinking and perhaps, eyes in the back of your head!
  • Skills: Experience 14 non-combat skills such as Medicine, Alchemy, Quartermastery, Athletics, and Reading. Level skills through use and strategic focus point allocation, unlocking abilities and passives to tailor your character to your playstyle.

Progression & Customization

  • Expansive Loot: Hundreds of items including potions, armor, recipes, and in-game readable lore books. Stumble upon rare enchantments or learn to enchant your items yourself.
  • Questing: Complete quests for rewards and to increase your reputation among the locals, unlocking exclusive benefits. On top of the hand-designed quests, towns and cities generate dynamic quests based on NPC roles in each town.
  • In-Depth Crafting: Craft food, potions and medicine; upgrade and maintain your armor with salvaged materials. Enhance your crafting skills by purchasing or finding recipe scrolls.
  • Character Customization: Shape your character's destiny with 7 background choices and over 30 starting traits.

Early Access

Despite being in early access the game has a significant amount of content already added, with around 20-30 hours required to win. Join the adventure as we continue to develop and extend the world of Enalia.
