What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are developing The Doors of Trithius with a long-term plan in mind, inspired by games like Dwarf Fortress where new features were continually added over many years. Our vision is for a truly massive RPG world with new features to discover on every playthrough.

Now that core mechanics are in place, early access will help us balance around community feedback as we continue development. There are many complex and emergent gameplay features we have yet to add, and we are excited to have the community join us in this process.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Around a year of development time until we are comfortable with the amount of features, content, and polish to consider the game fully released. Expect regular updates during this time (our release schedule is every two weeks).”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We have an ambitious number of updates planned including: new dungeon types & biomes, a procedural questing system, guilds and guild-quests, new skills & abilities, and whole other realms to explore.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Over the last year play-testers have put in hundreds of hours helping us test and balance. During this time we have focused hard on responding to feedback to ensure the game is in a good state for the Early Access steam release.

  • A majority of melee classes and skills are implemented along with 7 non-combat skills.
  • The player starts on an island with 3 enemy factions occupying several dungeons and nearby towns to trade with.
  • The game can be beaten! Conquer each major dungeon to piece together the artifact of ascension.
  • Saving/loading along with an autosave feature is implemented.

The Doors of Trithius is a difficult game, but also reasonably balanced, allowing for a variety of player builds and approaches to victory.

Expect save files to break when the game is updated!. While we do our best to ensure version compatibility, save files will break with some updates.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We intend to raise the price on release once we are comfortable with the level of polish.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Those who share with us a love for the roguelike genre - we want your feedback!

We are looking forward to working with the community to balance existing systems and help us prioritize and plan for new features.”
