Why Early Access?

“As a single developer, I have limited resourced to test across many hardware configurations, yet I'm committed to putting out a solid game others enjoy. I want to fine tune gameplay and eliminate as many issues as I can before fully releasing the game.

Early Access lets me collect feedback to fine tune the game technically and artistically in cooperation with the players and their hardware who will enjoy this game the most.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The Early Access period will last three to six months, depending on bugs and feature time needed. warDrive won't linger on in this phase longer than necessary.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Early Access is limited to free play "Cruise" mode and the prologue which includes the tutorial.
The prologue levels and enemies will receive balance adjustments and audio-visual enhancements up until the exit from early Access.

Three narrative-driven DLC episodes will become available after the Early Access period. These episodes include new environments, enemies, and complete story.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Early Access is the feature complete beta test. All primary features are implemented, but only some of the content for the tutorial and first episode is complete. Some dialog is placeholder, and some elements may not be completely tutorialized.

Core gameplay and all prologue enemies are in the game, but systems and AI still need balancing and adjustments.

The idler loop and many upgrades are available, but item pricing, especially hacking upgrades, is wildly unbalanced.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No. The prologue is free.

However, additional narrative-driven DLC will be available for purchase starting at the end of Early Access. (See Above)

Achievements will be added, but Trading Cards might not make it.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I have made a discord server available for game discussion, I will also collect reports from the Steam forums, and a survey is available from within the game.”
