Why Early Access?

“Early Access gives me time to focus on small details, reflect the community in Garland so it feels like a real city, adjust play based on feedback, find tricky bugs and experiment with new features in a way that is sustainable. This is my first game project so while I know what I want to achieve and how I want it to come together, I really value being able to work with the Garland community to make something really special together! <3 Violet”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I am targeting around 9 months but this timeline will be flexible based around community input and feedback.

Update Schedule:

• Hotfixes / major bug fixes - as required.
  
• Minor bug fixes - fortnightly
  
• Minor content drops - monthly
  
• Major content drops - quarterly (starting early 2024)

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During Early Access I will be doing multiple stages of Content Drops, which will allow me time to polish and adjust things bit by bit and keep things going at a sustainable development pace.

In addition to the content included in Early Access, the full version aims to have the following:

• Polish and balance for existing gameplay.
  
• 2 x additional friendship events + 3 x romantic events per NPC.
  
• Special occasion events (birthdays, weddings, commitment ceremonies).
  
• More apartment customization options (move buildings or expand).
  
• More part time jobs and tool progressions.
  
• More seasonal festivals.
  
• Pets.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently available game play includes:

• Full progression of the main building story lines (6 events x 4 buildings).
  
• Welcome quests and tutorials.
  
• Daily errands and recycling tasks.
  
• 3 x relationship progression events for 22 NPCs (2 platonic, 1 romantic choice).
  
• 3 x rotating Private Detective part time job quests.
  
• Gardening, cleaning and photography progression.
  
• Character customization and basic apartment customization.
  
• Seasonal character interactions, music, mail and level design.
  
• Festival of Petals - Spring festival.

Please keep in mind that during Early Access planned features and gameplay may change as Garland evolves and adjusts to feedback. All efforts will be made to make sure save files are compatible throughout the process but there may be times where manual adjustments or conversions are required.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“During Early Access Moonlight in Garland will be offered at a heavily discounted rate to reflect the evolving content, bug fixes, and incorporation of community feedback. Once Garland leaves Early Access the cost will move to full price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I am very involved with Garland’s community through our Discord server and weekly streaming on Twitch. We hold regular community nights, Q and As and I when possible make adjustments to game builds based on feedback received. All of Garland’s updates and patches come with comprehensive notes and I aim to be as transparent as possible”
