What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Lynium is a rhythm game made with its players. Most of what's in the game today, from the mods to the timing presets to the new first-time setup, came from player feedback after the 2.0 relaunch in August 2026. We update the game every week, and Early Access lets us keep building it in the open, alongside the people who play it and make beatmaps for it.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We don't want to give a date we can't keep. We plan to leave Early Access once community mappers can get their beatmaps ranked through a public process, and once the additions listed below are in place. Until then we'll keep shipping regular updates, and you can follow each one in our announcements.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add:
  • A public ranked queue with written criteria, so any mapper can see where their beatmap stands
  • Weekly challenges with their own leaderboard
  • Importing your existing osu! beatmap library in one step
  • Watching and sharing replays on the website
  • More ways to compete with other players, such as racing the replay of the player just above you
Longer term we'd like to add real-time multiplayer, but only once there are enough players online to fill the rooms.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Lynium is fully playable. You may still run into bugs, and we fix them quickly.

What's in the game today:
  • Mania mode from 3K to 7K, plus Lynium's own Standard mode, in 2D or 3D view
  • More than 1,100 beatmap sets to download in-game, with a set of beginner songs on first launch
  • Performance-point rankings: world, country and friends, per beatmap and global
  • A replay of every play, and live spectating
  • Mods including any speed from 0.50x to 2.00x, Mirror, Random, Hidden, No Miss, and Easy/Harder, which adapt a chart to your level
  • Timing-window presets from osu!mania, Quaver and Etterna
  • A full beatmap editor that can generate a first draft of a chart from a song
  • A skin editor with Steam Workshop publishing
  • In-game chat connected to our Discord
  • Daily rewards and play streaks
  • 15 languages

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Lynium is free to play, and we don't plan to charge for it when it leaves Early Access.

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Most of the changes since the 2.0 relaunch started as player suggestions, and we plan to keep working that way.

About This Game

Lynium is a free vertical scrolling rhythm game. Play the classic 4K to 7K style, or Lynium's own Standard mode, where a centre lane, two rhythm lanes and seven melody lanes make each song feel closer to playing an instrument. In a flat 2D view or in 3D.

Two ways to play

  • Lynium Mania: the traditional layout, from 4K to 7K

  • Lynium Standard: rhythm keys and melody keys, a mode you won't find in any other game

Preview any beatmap before you download it

Every beatmap on the Lynium website comes with a live preview: the chart plays with its music, in 2D or 3D, right in your browser. Watch it full screen, with the background video when the set has one, at the scroll speed you like.
