What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“GunBlocks is a quirky puzzle adventure with plenty of humor, strange characters, and block-based chaos. The game is already fully playable, but I want to expand the content and fine-tune the experience with help from the players. Early Access lets me see how you solve (or break) my puzzles, figure out what makes you laugh, and make sure the later chapters are just as much fun as the first one.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
Each new chapter takes about 6–12 months to develop. My plan is to add at least two more chapters during Early Access, but the timeline may shift depending on player feedback and how many extra ideas sneak their way into the game.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full game will expand on this foundation with at least two more story chapters, each bringing new locations, puzzles, and characters to discover. Along the way I’ll add additional puzzle mechanics and block types to keep things fresh, as well as more dialogue, jokes, and cutscenes to flesh out the quirky crew of the BallEx.

And of course, expect plenty of polish: visuals, sound, and UI will all improve as development continues.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version contains the complete first chapter of the story – a mix of puzzles, exploration, and plenty of banter with the crew. It already offers a full introduction to the world, the characters, and the unique mix of shooting and block-placing gameplay.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes – the Early Access version will be cheaper. When the full version releases, I plan to increase the price to reflect the added content and polish.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I’m making GunBlocks mostly on my own, so feedback from players is really important to me. If something feels off, confusing, or just could be better, I want to hear about it.

You can share your thoughts on the Steam forums or join my Discord if you’d like to talk more directly. Bug reports, ideas for new mechanics, or even silly puzzle concepts – I’ll be paying attention to all of it.”

Reviews

“Tetris and turn-based tactics does seem like an odd mix, but it works surprisingly well and it makes for a very addictive and unique gameplay experience. The pixel art animation is excellent and the game has a lot of charm and a delightful sense of humor. A quirky blocky adventure well worth embarking on.”

About This Game

I’m Rookie, the new guy on the space courier ship BallEx. Life onboard was already chaotic, but after crashing on a hostile planet, it’s up to me to recover the lost cargo and the parts we need to get the ship flying again… assuming the crew doesn’t drive me insane first.

At least I’m not completely alone. H.A.P.P.Y., the ship’s over-eager AI, insists on tagging along. With its “help,” I shift tetrominos to reshape the terrain, blast enemies when things get hairy, and puzzle my way through whatever obstacles this planet throws at me.

Along the way, I stumble across eccentric crewmates and passengers, uncover secrets best left buried, and try to keep what’s left of my sanity. The game is turn-based, which gives me time to plan every move… though if I overthink it, I’ll probably just dig myself into a hole.

The adventure unfolds chapter by chapter, each one packed with new puzzles, hazards, and plenty of questionable life choices. Chapter 1 is just the beginning — and trust me, the crew has more ways to ruin my day than this planet ever could.
