What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access on Steam gives us the opportunity to implement mission-critical feedback from the most important source available: the end user. Our goal at Ghost Byte is to produce the most high-quality games possible. Early Access allows us to develop the game in a way that involves the community, ensuring that the quality of Chroma will be as high as possible. We at Ghost Byte want Chroma to bring people together for a rich user experience, and developing the game using user feedback is a critical part of that process.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Chroma will be in Early Access between 3 and 6 months as the team works to implement additional game modes and maps that build upon the stable, core style of gameplay that Chroma currently contains.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Chroma will contain a wealth of additional features compared to the Early Access version. While the core game mechanics will remain unchanged, players can expect to enjoy new types of PvE and PvP game modes, new maps, customizable waves, and more. The primary goal for the full release of Chroma is to have enough customizability for players to enjoy playing Chroma together in the way that best suits their unique play styles and social groups.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state of the Early Access version of Chroma is that of near completion. The core game modes are stable, character styles are differentiated with unique play styles, and the waves of zombies present unique challenges for players. Quality of life updates will ensure that players experience significantly expanded options with each new release until the full version of Chroma is achieved.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Chroma will be priced differently upon full release after the Early Access period has ended. While we have not yet decided on a price point for the early access release of Chroma, the price point will increase modestly upon full release. We will not gradually increase the price when new content and features are released but will rather set this modest increase in price upon the formal full release of Chroma.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As stated previously, the Community is a core component of Chroma’s development. Community feedback will be regularly assessed and implemented to fine-tune the user experience. Real-time mediums such as Discord and Twitter are currently being used and will be used in the future for social outreach, helping Ghost Byte gauge community sentiment at every step of the development process. Steam Discussions will also be our main avenue for community outreach and involvement.”

About This Game

Zombies, medieval combat armor, sharp and pointy weapons... what's not to love?

Chroma is based in Medieval Europe with one unique twist: the continent is overrun by the undead and you've been tasked with repelling The Horde. You're not the only one on the case though. Other knights, warriors, and ne'er-do-wells are scouring the land looking for a chance to claim the glory of beating back The Horde for themselves. The Old Kingdom is quickly fading into the annals of time, but the combatants that once heralded it's strength are as restless as ever for blood and glory!

Battle your friends in head to head in duels
  • Duke it out to see which one of your buddies has the greatest grit when it comes to medieval combat. Whether it be sword, spear, bow, or magic, with the right strategy, skill, and a bit of luck, you can come out on top!
Take on team battles as your try to capture forts from each other
  • Sitting in a high castle doesn’t always mean safety. Fight alongside your friends and capture the enemy stronghold, demonstrating that your group has the right to rule the roost.
Outclass your foes by selecting from four varying playstyles
  • Slay zombies and fellow combatants alike with the classes of Archer, Templar, Inquisitor, or Priest. Ironclad armor, piercing weaponry, skillful arrows, or arcane arts. Your playstyle, your choice!
Overcome hordes of zombies and struggle for top score
  • The unrelenting waves of the undead aren’t the only obstacle you’ll have to overcome in the world of Chroma. Your fellow combatants are sometimes as bloodhungry as the zombies. Wield your weapon of choice well to ensure that you come out on top!

Templar: Physically remarkable warriors famed for their prowess in armed combat that they honed serving The Old Kingdom. While not the brightest, the Templar makes up in brawn what he lacks in brains. Big muscles for big weapons.

Inquisitor: Discontented with the existing social order, the outbreak of The Horde served as the perfect pretext for the Inquisitor's emergence from the shadows. Cunning and quick, the Inquisitor can outpace the vast majority of their foes but must be wary of taking excessive physical damage.

Archer: Against the slow-moving Horde the Archer leverages distance to their advantage. Bolts and quills send shivers and chills down the spines of their enemies... assuming those spines still have bloodflow. Damage from a distance is still very real damage.

Priest: Salvation for the living and damnation for the undead. The Priest class served The Old Kindgom in many critical administrative capacities and reverberate it's existance, using ancient texts to conjure archaic magics. Priests cleanse the land of dark energy, both human and zombie alike.

Throne Hall, where the last vestiges of the Old Kingdoms echo and their forelorn combatants pit themselves against one another. The Lowland Pasture, where the undead thrive on the rotting corpses of the fallen for as far as the eye can see... and it's your job to thin their ranks. Trial Of Might where you can test your grit against your fellow man as you sharpen your skills and blade to fight the horde, with cavernous hills and mighty walls of stone, with or without one another.
