What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We think we have a lot of great ideas about how to make a unique horror game, but we need players to test it out so we can make sure we're on the right path.
Community interest is one of our driving forces, and we're excited to have people play our game, and experience what we've created.
We're making a game where player interaction is key, and what you can do is unlike many other horror games.
We have a good idea of where we want the game to go, but how we get there will be shaped by the community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We intend to spend as much time as is required in order to bring the best experience to our players, but we plan to keep it in early access for approximately 1-2 years depending on the features that the community wants.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add features throughout early access, including:

  • Procedural generation system improvements to bring more interesting variations to the halls.
  • Developer designed maps, and experiences as an alternative to the procedural games.
  • Many more interactions for both living, and dead players. A key focus of our game is the full experience. How it plays if you die, and how it plays if you survive is extremely important to us.
  • Further improvements to the item system, with the addition of more items and equipment.
  • In-game achievements, progression, and ways to show off.
  • There will be improved AI, and a wider variety of scares in the game.
  • We will introduce some new monsters to the game, and they will all behave in different ways.
  • UI/UX overhaul of the game, to ensure as many people as possible can enjoy the game.

This isn't a full list, and we want to expand on it more, but hopefully it gives you a general understanding.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“As we enter early access, we have the full gameplay loop and systems implemented, and you can expect:

  • Procedurally generated halls, and puzzles ( seeded, so you can share with the community ).
  • A different gameplay experience every time.
  • Intricate interactions as both a dead and alive player.
  • Several items you can use to ensure you succeed in your objective.
  • Public and private game lobbies, with in-game voice chat.
  • AI that uses a variety of techniques to keep the players on their toes.
  • In-game VOIP, and speech recognition for interacting with the spirit.
  • Several types of items that can be chosen by the spirit.

You can play the full experience, but we'll be consistently improving and implementing new systems that will hopefully keep you excited for future updates.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We don't intend to increase the price at all, but that may change depending on how much extra content is added to the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We believe the game will be better if we build the community early, therefore feedback will be gathered and considered at every stage of the games development. We'll do this in various ways, such as community polling, in-game feedback screens, and an active Discord server.”

About This Game

In this cooperative horror game, players are tasked with guiding a lost soul through the trials of purgatory. Players must work together to navigate a series of dark and unsettling halls, using their knowledge and intuition to overcome the terrifying obstacle that stands in their way. As they progress, they will uncover the truth behind the soul's death and the secrets of the afterlife. Can the group successfully guide the soul to redemption and escape purgatory themselves, or will they fall victim to the tortured spirit that haunts the halls?

Join forces with a group of friends to increase your chances of success as you navigate the trials of purgatory. Utilize an adaptive difficulty system that adjusts to the number of players and make strategic decisions on whether to split up or stay together to overcome obstacles.
Every moment will require decisions to be made as you race against the clock.

Choose your gear wisely as you venture through the halls. Each player can only carry one item at a time, so plan accordingly. Will you stay together and let your friend carry the torch? Or will you both find your way in the dark? The choice is yours.

Death is not the end. If you die, you will gain a crucial supporting role to ensure your friends success. Guide them through worldly interaction. Your all-seeing eye will reveal the object that the spirit wants. Use your experience as a spirit to communicate this to your friends by whatever means - through phone, spirit board, or other paranormal interactions.

Features
  • Single player, or Co-op: A randomly generated experience that can be enjoyed alone, or with up to 3 other players.
  • Various equipment: Use the equipment to pin-point the location of artifacts, increase the odds of survival, or help your fellow players.
  • Be a Ghost: Help the living players achieve their goal or haunt them until they can't take it anymore. We're bored of sitting around watching friends have fun when we die. Use your powers as a ghost to help inform players of an artifact's location or sit back and laugh as they are hunted.
  • Voice Recognition: Communicate with the spirit with voice, or through pre-defined in-game options.
  • Survival Experience: The spirit is haunting constantly, and only through communication and knowledge of the game will you be able to avoid it. Listen for the Grandfather clock, as it counts down to the witching hour, at which point, be ready to hide, or be ready to die.
  • Psychological Horror: We try to avoid jump scares, and instead rely on slow pacing, atmosphere, and sound to keep you on your toes. Though don't be fooled, she is coming for you.
