Why Early Access?

“We need the Early Access (EA) to let us involve our players in the final stages of development of a required Mutliplayer (MP) system that covers necessary aspects of multiplayer games and features such as:

- Running MP Games
- Ingame integrated MP Game Lobbies
- Saving and Loading MP games ingame
- Finding MP games opponents via the EA communnity

Our team has thus a need for a larger base of user to help us finalize this enhanced functionality, not only via testing but also with the providing of direct users feedback. We feel the EA is a perfect opportunity to gather such a community, especially on a game which is brand new, with no similar game or title with the current rules.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We have estimated the duration of the development phase at 12-13 weeks of full time work by our own team.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The major difference of the final version vs. the EA version should mostly be a completely integrated and full Multiplayer system in the game.

The game in its present stage is already fully coded for single-player mode (including AI for non-human player slots) and has all the rules implemented. See the "About This Game" section on the store page.

With the final version, players should be able to connect via the Multiplayer feature to other players to have full online games with them.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Every game feature (rules, aI, content, tutorial) is present, as decribed in the "About This Game" section of the game main page. Please refer to it for details.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, we plan to offer the game at a lower price during the first months of the EA period (3 months more or less) in order to attract more players, as we need a larger base of users to enable our MP features testing campaign.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our aim is to ask the community to participate in various MP test tournaments, with the goal being to check that the features we plan to develop during the EA period work as intended.

We also think that different posts on the community hub will be dedicated to receiving comments and suggestions from the community on our new ongoing MP developments.”

About This Game

Britannia is the eponymous adaptation of the historical board game that broadly depicts the age-old conflict for control of Britain from 43 to 1066 A.D. Leave your mark on the island and take control of England, Scotland, and Wales.

Game mechanics

Britannia uses the same ruleset as the historical board game and relies on support from the original creators. Take control of a nation and issue strategic recommendations to move forward and gain the upper hand over your enemies.

Earn victory points by conquering and keeping territories, defeating enemy units, and being elected Bretwalda or King of England.

History

The game begins with the Roman invasion in 43 A.D., continues through the many conflicts between the Angles, Saxons, Picts, Norwegians, Scots, Irish, and other peoples, and ends with the Norman Conquest of 1066. Play as the rebellious Queen Boudica, legendary King Arthur, Danish King Knut, or William the Conqueror and leave a mark on the early history of Britain.

Strategic depth

Develop your nation, manage your army, and fight by choosing the battlefield that will lead you to victory. But that's just the beginning – numerous unique game mechanics await you in Britannia!
