Why Early Access?

“We have decided to release SideTracked! into Early Access to allow us to quickly gather and implement user feedback into the game as we rapidly iterate and add new content.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We believe that it will take us approximately 18 months of continued development to reach a state where the community and ourselves are confident that there is enough gameplay and polish to warrant the game as having a full release. That being said, we would like to keep this estimate flexible. Plans may change according to the feedback that we receive and may be slightly longer than estimated if deemed necessary to provide the best possible experience for players.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We would like the full version of SideTracked! to be more polished, more bug free, and contain more content (items, dungeons, realms, questlines, and modding documentation) than what is currently available in the game. We would also like to overhaul our art and existing systems such as combat and boss fights to make the game feel more fluid and enjoyable to players.

Updates will continue after the full release, but may occur at longer intervals to help us maintain tighter control over the quality of our work.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is still under active development. Although we try our best to catch all bugs before pushing a build to Steam, it is likely that there are game breaking bugs that may arise while playing.

All core gameplay systems have been implemented (inventory / crafting, quests / dialogue / NPC's, multiplayer / character customization, modding, and dungeons / combat / looting).

The content built on these systems is still being added and will continue to be added during Early Access. The current Early Access version of the game contains an intro realm, ~3 hours of questline, an introductory storyline, approximately 100 basic items, and 2 dungeons. The current Early Access version is also still using developer art and requires modding documentation.

After content has been added, additional polishing, and testing will be required before we're ready for full release. During Early Access, despite our best efforts, updates may break existing saves and/or introduce new bugs.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of the game will gradually change as we add additional content to the game and as we leave early access. We will always try our best to exceed the expectations of fans in balancing the amount of content present in the game with the price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to take all feedback and suggestions into consideration when developing the game. SideTracked! is intended to be the game of the community and we plan to keep this in mind throughout development. We will be hosting monthly "town hall" sessions in the forums where players can have their feedback directly listened and responded to by the developers.”
