What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Launching two public Alphas for Gravewood High has shown us just how valuable and useful player feedback is. Our team wants to make the best roguelike horror game possible and, with your help, to make sure we're moving in the right direction.

What are our goals?

To make a highly replayable game that surprises you with every run. Each playthrough will be quite unique: varied loot, new puzzles, different abilities and behaviours for the Teacher, etc. We want to create a really smart and lively opponent, who is responsive to player actions, even crazy ones :)”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our current goal is to fully launch the game in 2022. The actual timing of the game launch depends on player feedback and features requested by fans.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

  • The full version of the game will feature several levels, each taking a few hours to complete. Each level will be highly randomized: loot, the Teacher’s behaviour and traps, rooms, puzzles, etc. will change from one run to another.
  • The teacher will get new gameplay-changing abilities (a few of which we have teased in the EA roadmap).
  • Many optional (and more difficult) puzzles will be added, with cool rewards that enhance your playthrough.
  • We plan to add even more interactivity to the game’s environment: it will be possible to disarm some of the Teacher’s traps and use them against him, there will be a lot more destructible objects, etc.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The first game level is ready and can be played until the end. You can complete it in about an hour and a half, but some parts are randomized to provide more replay value. The basic mechanics of the game are all done, and we will be enhancing the first level with more randomization, additional content, and game mechanics during Early Access. Gravewood High is already fun to play, but you may encounter a few bugs. If you do, be sure to report them ;)
In a recent major update, we launched a free multiplayer mode, which anyone can enjoy!
The single-player portion of the game is now available in the form of paid DLC - you can purchase access to the first level of the game (Chapter 1 DLC ) or enjoy the full experience and gain access to all future content with the Gravewood High - Complete DLC, which also comes with a digital art book.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No concrete plans at the moment. The price might go up when the full game launches, as more content will be available.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Although our team has a clear vision for Gravewood High and the direction it is going in, our goal is to create a game that gets people excited and to maintain a healthy relationship with fans that take the time to provide feedback and help us create a better game. Listening to the game community, analyzing letsplays and looking at the data helps us better understand how our ideas are received and how to improve them.

We have a Discord server available (please join!) and we also plan to monitor discussions in the game’s Steam Community Hub.”

“Boltcutters. Clippy-clip. Open. Success.”

About This Game

Several students have gone missing at Gravewood High and none of the adults seem to have noticed. Figure out what is behind the madness permeating the school walls in the story campaign. Play with up to five friends in the co-op mode as you try to escape. But there are three problems. One - the building has turned into a deadly labyrinth that constantly shifts and changes. Two - you are being chased by the Teacher, a crazed overlord of this place.Three - not all of your friends can be trusted!

  • Story mode. Play the first 2 sections of the single-player campaign for free, which can be continued after purchasing the full version of the game. Plunge into the atmosphere of several iconic periods of history - from the wild 80s to the American Civil War.

  • Online co-op up to 6 players. Work with others to find a way out of the school or betray them and escape alone. The co-op mode also includes new challenges: a dance room, a ventilation system with circular saws and many more fun and deadly puzzles.

  • Dynamic environment. The school’s interior, including items and puzzle locations, changes between matches and the environment can be destroyed by both the players and the Teacher, creating a tense and unique adventure.

  • Smart opponent. Meet the Teacher or, as some of you may know him, Mr. Hyde. This relentless AI opponent will track you down and set up traps even in seemingly safe corners of the school.

  • Unique titles. Earn titles after each co-op session, such as “Teacher's Little Helper”. Be recognized for your achievements and gameplay style!
