Why Early Access?

“This is Fred, co-founder of Plus Infinity Studios that is releasing Midjungard. Several of the features that I had planned on including in the game could not come in time for the Dec 21 Midjungard release. I have been working nonstop to integrate all the features like matchmaking, online multiplayer party system, micro transactions, premium characters, LOCK-ON for melee mode etc. But, as the release date is looming, I have decided to first concentrate on the core PvP game. The basic PvP game is working as intended and has been very exciting to play as is. The team here at Plus Infinity Studios is working very hard in these difficult times to bring in several exciting additional features. Thanks for your support.

Note! For now Midjungard has a bug that sometimes bypasses the lobby and launches the players straight into the game. If this happens all the players will come in as the blue team. To switch teams from blue to red press the ; button (the semicolon button).”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have the following added features:
*Online players matchmaking
*Online players party system
*LOCK-ON mode for melee combat. When you target an enemy with TAB key, you will lock-on to him/her and whichever way you move you will always face the enemy.
*Game money system through which players can buy premium characters after accumulating game points.
*Premium characters using the micro transaction system using Steam API. We are midways through this. Could not complete in time.
*Premium skins for the characters using the micro transaction system using Steam API.
*Premium VFX effects for the characters using the micro transaction system using Steam API.
*Steam achievements system.
*A more streamlined HOW TO WIN section in the main menu.
*And a host of other small improvements.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“*The current game is 3v3 multiplayer PvP. The basic game is working fine and the players can launch into the level and experience intense and exciting combat and magic.

*The level design is complete. The level is huge. Every game spawns the players in a different section of the map thereby helping with the novelty factor.

*The lighting is fully tuned and has received very positive feedback.

*Players can come in as any one of three classes (Swordsman, Smith and Huntress) at game start and morph into the fourth Berserker class by capturing an ancient weapon in the level.

*Movement mechanics is fully implemented. Players can walk, sprint, jump, roll, strafe and swim.

*Combat mechanics is fully implemented. Players can fire missile weapons and use melee weapons for close combat. They can also set enemies on fire using special abilities.

*Loot system is working. Players can hunt for magic potions, extra secondary weapons and power-ups.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“More exciting features are coming in. There will be a very moderate price increase as we transition from early access to the fully released version.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Yes, very much so. I plan on getting the community's input on the LOCK-ON mechanism and the number and type of premium characters, skins and VFX that are going to be added. Also I will listen closely to community feedback about the other features in Midjungard.”

About This Game

Set in an ancient Tolkien-inspired world predating Viking history, Midjundgard faces players off in intense 3v3 hack n’ slash matches.

Midjungard Multiplayer PvP is set in an almost prehistoric misty world, where strange creatures roam this fabled earth which later becomes the Midgard of Viking mythology. This Midjungard by the way, is carried through in the legendarium of JRR Tolkien's cosmology too.

6 players, formed into 2 teams, are dropped into this ancient land of myth and magic. The teams fight in a PvP mode and acquire points for each enemy kill. Respawning is allowed. When the game timer expires, usually around 15 minutes, the team with the highest points is the winner.

In the PvE mode, soon to be delivered free as a DLC after the initial game release, 3 human players fight against 3 AI bots

The focal point of the game is the central Altari, a pedestal that holds the ultimate weapon UrHamar.

Midjungard features three playable classes for the players to choose from, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Sverdur the Paladin is clad in sturdy plate and armed with a sword and shield making him exceptional at defence. Armed with a bow, and deadly accurate in ranged combat is Jaegra the Huntress. Lastly, Smidur the man-beast capable of delivering a fatal blow with his long axe in one swipe.

Once inside the game they can morph into the frighteningly powerful Berserker avatar by two ways:
-By capturing the UrHamar mounted on a central pedestal on the Altari.
-By looting in the level for the elusive magical potion GladursBrugga.

The level map is vast and varied. The Altari will spawn at different locations for each game. A ring of fire, called as Myrcki, will also be spawned around the Altari. Myrcki are fiery, flesh-eating insects. One cannot step out of this Myrcki circle without being eaten alive.

A player will respawn after death but will do so at the periphery. He/she will need to run towards the action after the respawn but will lose all loot that was collected.

Soon as the game starts, look for the sky-high beacon in the map that indicates the location of the central Altari. This is where the final battle will probably occur. Another valid approach is to play tactically by first looting for potions, additional weapons and additional powerups. This will you them better prepared for the final battle.

Engage your enemies from afar using missile weapons. Use melee weapons at close range to finish the fight.

If you have enough Brugga, a magical potion, you can enable special attacks and set your enemy aflame. Other potions to loot for are Helsa to heal damage and of course Galdursbrugga to morph into a Berserker.

The Berserker's special ability is to throw Spheres of Entrapment to stun you. He can also, with enough Brugga, completely become invisible for a few seconds just to sneak up behind you with his terrible war hammer at the ready.

Players can also loot for power-ups hidden in the caches. These give you level-ups for strength, attack, dexterity and speed.

Winning in Midjungard requires good movement and skillful weapons usage with a judicious mix of magic and special abilities. Above all a group that fights as a team wins as a team.
