Why Early Access?

“Hellcard is a deckbuilder with both singleplayer and co-op multiplayer modes, which makes for a complex balancing. We want balance in both modes to be as good as possible and we can't imagine a better way of achieving that than involving as many players in the process as possible!
We have experience with Early Access from our previous game, Book of Demons so we know that nothing makes for a better game than an engaged community helping along with the development.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are planning to keep Hellcard in Early Access for at least a year. This, however, might change depending on the ideas and feedback we get from the community.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version of Hellcard to have additional features including new cards, difficulty modifiers, cosmetics, modes, and a whole new playable class along with unique class cards. You can find more detail on these plans in our Early Access Roadmap.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Hellcard is fully playable and, after a long closed beta, well-balanced right now! We just have a lot more we want to add and that new content will require even more balancing. The game currently has all the features from the "About This" section implemented:

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will increase after Early Access as we expand the game with more content.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are constantly active on both our Discord and the Steam forums. There is a Feedback Widget in the game itself that players can use to report both bugs and ideas directly to us. We regularly consult the community on issues ranging from balance to card names by holding votes and discussions.”
