Why Early Access?

“《SUFFERING》is our first indie game, and we hope to do our best to make it better. Steam EA has helped us a lot, allowing us to hear from real players about the game in advance, and these suggestions are very important for us to keep tweaking and optimizing the game in the proper way, and it also will give us a chance to learn quickly and improve efficiently. Our members are all indie game lovers, we are very eager to know whether the players will look forward to the game, and what will the real players care about.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“《SUFFERING》is an indie game that can continues to expand its content, offering more reincarnation, more enemies, more weapons, more abilities, more items, more special commands, and more difficulty modes. EA will last a long time (we estimate 8 to 12 months), depending on players' suggestions and comments on the current version of 《SUFFERING》, and how satisfied they are with the content and gameplay included in EA.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For EA, players will be able to challenge all the bosses in the first reincarnation, including defeating the final BOSS for the first time to finish the game, so the players can fully understand the core story set of《SUFFERING》.
"For the release vision, it's important to add all contents of the second reincarnation, which will double the length of time to play the game, and we will also make the bosses behave better, making the fights more playable. We have a lot of ideas to join in, such as increase the difficulty of new game plus, such as opening up new map region - even placed new BOSS group in the new area, design a more distinctive roles of BOSS, more interesting types of weapons, more distinctive ability moves, the more wonderful items and add more specific instructions to develop leading role of combat routines, and so on. Of course, we want the release version to have a smoother experience, better art, better music and even more cutscenes. Finally, it must be based on the community of players, to have a reasonable change, maybe the best idea, from one of the player's suggestion.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“At the current phase, we expect EA to be available in May 2021.It will include all the contents of the first round, including a complete story mode, which will have three chapters, ten bosses and four souls of suffering to be explored and collected by players. Even if you are very good at turn-based games, it may take more than 20 hours to complete the first round story mode (explore by yourself).As you pass the story mode, other modes in the first round will be unlocked, the length of time it takes to complete these modes will depend on your understanding and familiarity with the combat system of suffering.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“After EA is over, the addition of more new content and new mode will definitely lead to higher production costs, and we may have to adjust the price slightly.”

About This Game

Before getting into Suffering, we'd like to say the following:

  • Suffering is a very difficult turn-based RPG with a unique system. Its key feature is the intricately designed battles. The main character is an ordinary human that accidentally fell into the Room of Suffering, and players won't be able to return to the mortal realm unless they defeat every Sinner in the Room of Suffering.

  • As a turn-based indie game, it breaks out of the "replay" frame and adds "Multiple reincarnations" to the traditional turn-based mechanism. Steam early access will start on May 27, 2021[PT], and run for about 8 to 12 months, during which we will keep releasing new content, and eventually launch the game.

What is "Multiple reincarnations"? What's the difference between that and simply replaying the game?

  • It's a unique system that can be expanded endlessly. After clearing the current reincarnation for the first time, players will unlock new modes with different difficulties and rules, as well as the ability to enter the "next" reincarnation. The biggest difference is that the next reincarnation doesn't have defeated sinners with new rules, but a brand new group of stronger sinners altogether!

  • Some say that turn-based games are a relic of the past, but we just wanted to put our best effort into creating a turn-based indie game that emphasizes the importance of not giving up. It's been two years since we started with nothing, and Suffering, a difficult indie game with a bold setting, unique and hardcore gameplay, and endless possibilities, is almost finished.
