As a result of the explosion and destruction of reactor number 4 of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, a massive amount of radioactive isotopes were released into the atmosphere. Squads of liquidators were sent out to combat this invisible and deadly enemy. They were not heroes, yet they were called upon to perform heroic deeds. Many of them paid with their own health, and even their lives...

In the game Chornobyl Liquidators, alcohol and drugs are used as an element of the world presented. Due to the historical nature of the game, as well as the cultural aspect, it would be impossible to show life in the USSR without referring to such a widespread issue as alcohol (vodka). Moreover, both alcohol and drugs are an interactive element of the gameplay and are used to influence playable characters statistics.
