What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access gives players the opportunity to enjoy the experience whilst it is still being developed and allows us to expand and improve the experience based on player feedback.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are constantly working and evolving while developing the experience and we keep on finding amazing new features to implement. Our vision might take a while to be complete, but we'll get there.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of the experience will include a number of additional features, such as:
  • An entire starship to explore, every room on every deck.
  • A full NPC crew to interact with.
  • The ability to fly the ship to different star systems and engage in various encounters.
  • All manner of events and scenarios to enjoy.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“You can currently explore a small portion of the ship and interact with various interactive objects. There is basic multiplayer support and you are able to pick up a gun and have a deathmatch with friends.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, the base experience will always be free.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We encourage players to get involved in our bustling Discord community (http://community.messy-desk.co.uk/), which now boasts over 4000 members. We actively engage with the community on a daily basis and this has a direct effect on the development process.”

About This Game

Step aboard the USS Orville (ECV-197), the Planetary Union's finest mid-level exploratory class cruiser. With every room on every deck recreated with painstaking accuracy you are free to explore the weirdest ship in the fleet at your leisure, either alone or with friends in multiplayer.

Current Features:
  • Freely explore the ship in both first and third person.
  • Sit at the helm and take the ship for a spin. Why not try and see if you too can "hug the donkey"?
  • Jump into multiplayer with a few friends and explore the ship together. Alternatively you can pick up a Longbow and test out your marksmanship on them.
  • Visit the E-Sim and go bowling, or visit Bortus' "special" program, if you can find it!
  • Character customisation. Be who you want to be!
  • Synthesise a few nick-knacks at any of the ship's matter synthesizers. Pick them up and place them freely. Why not give Bortus and Clyden's quarters a quick spruce up?
  • Take in the breathtaking views out of the Mess Hall windows of the Planetary Union Dockyard in Earth orbit.
  • Customize your own quarters and upload it to the Steam Workshop for everyone to marvel at!
  • Send the ship into disarray with a variety of different alert modes, each changing the ambiance throughout the ship. Find the one that best suits your mood. Or perhaps you've just got the urge to party like a Moclan?
  • Completely original score with undertones and themes from the show by the legendary Patrick Phillips.
  • In-game chat for both text and voice in Multiplayer games. All in aid of the great Orville community spirit.
  • Wander down to the Shuttle Bay and take a shuttle out for a joyride.
  • Fight Kaylon ships in the Unknown Sector.
