What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want to share our game with players so that we can receive valuable feedback on the player experience. Once we have a feel for how the community of players experiences the game, we can best focus on our energy on the final stages of development and plan for future expansion and refinement of the game-play experience. We have played and tested the game a lot, but this really doesn't give us much of an idea of how most players experience the game or where they find the fun. With feedback from players, we can see what is working and what we need to rethink to deliver the unique experience we are shooting for.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“6 months”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We are hoping to add some narrative and reward elements to make the more open experiences feel more concluded and allow players to find enjoyment and reward through the activities they naturally gravitate towards. Apart from those things, we feel like we have added all the features, puzzles, effects, and interaction we envisioned; now we just want to make sure those aspects function the way players expect and mesh into a cohesive whole.

We expect the overall experience to remain the same, but some "Aha" moments to make the experience feel more cohesive and purposeful. Above all, we want to see where players are frustrated or confused and make slight adjustments to correct those issues.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is in a playable and stable state. The game-play elements, characters, animations, sound, effects, and environment are in a complete state. Likewise, the game-play loop is playable and implemented as we intend them to be in the final release of the game.

As broader player feedback comes in, we will be making changes to the existing game-play experience to focus on the areas of the game that are successful and enjoyable to players. We hope that most of these changes will be cosmetic and quality of life changes, but we are still open to more sweeping changes if those are necessary. We believe the game is in a near complete state as-is. We just want to make sure we are delivering on the experience we set out to create.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Price will not change after leaving early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback and testing will be essential to the final development processes. Early access players are encouraged to provide feedback on the community pages to help us understand their desires and provide a well crafted product to them and future players.”

About This Game

Good Bear is inspired by the infotainment, adventure, and first person games of the 1990's and early 2000's. It is separated into different stages and uses a series of mini-games to explore a world and become familiar with its inhabitants. These mini-games are casual-style puzzles that are meant to be easy to pick up and play. Once the player delves into these, they are able to get closer and closer to the characters, and eventually, take control of them and explore the world. There are items, environments, and interactions that you can only discover through these first-person sections, but it is also possible to completely ignore them and complete the game. The world itself has additional areas, characters, hazards and interactive elements to explore. Instead of a single linear path, the game offers a variety of choices that allow the player to discover different things and have different game-play experiences though repeated play.
