What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We have a base game that is playable but we are looking to craft far more than that. Our vision about the game is clear, but this vision might not appealing to our players, so before going forward and commiting to adding more and more features to the game we seek validation from the community. We will be in direct touch with everyone and we will listen to all the ideas that could end up giving everyone a richer experience. Also bugs, probably some annoying ones.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“3 months”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“First, content. The game currently has little replayability due to it's lack of content so the first thing we will focus on will be adding more levels, enemies, power ups, bossfights, etc.
Second, mechanics. The game should feel playable, but we are looking for a richer experience so this is where the ideas of the community will help us make a deeper and more satisfying game.
Some ideas we currently have are a companion system, more complex and direct synergy between power ups, cooperation system between enemies and complex puzzle systems.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game currently offers full iterations from the tutorial room to one boss room. There are currently 9 levels between the tutorial and the boss room. The rooms in every level (Except Boss rooms and tutorial) are procedurally generated so gameplay won't be that monotonous even with this little amount of content. The current power ups are basic stats increases. Aditionally, 2 possible "outcomes" are possible after defeating the boss, which depend of your actions in the final screen (Note this implementation is in bare bones). Finally some placeholder art for the power ups and puzzle rooms that will be replaced soon.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We have a clear vision of what we want with the game but this doesn't necesarily means the game will be appealing to the users, that is why before we move forward we need to listen what our players have to say. We will be monitoring every single platform to look for feedback and have a direct communication with people that engage in giving us valuable information. Steam discussion forums and Discord will be out main hubs for this task.”

About This Game

Cubito Mayhem is an top down 2D twin stick shooter with rogue-like and bullet hell elements that uses dense, chaotic and action packed levels and bossfights to tell the story of a square shaped citizen that refused to follow the traditions and guidelines of the society it is a part of.

The polygonal society "Socielatera" condemns change and sticks strictly to conventional and ancient ways of representing progress. The main way to tell a member of the society is growing and progressing is the transformation of their members in a ritual called "Laterappono" carried periodically by the most ancient members. Since its beginnings the most powerful and respected members of "Socielatera" were always the citizens with the most sides shaping their physical body. "Laterappono" consists in the transformation of the body to apply one extra side to the body. Triangles become squares, squares become pentagons and so on.
