What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Greyward is fully playable from start to finish today, but it is a big game made by a very small team. Early Access lets us test Steam co-op with real groups of players, balance the rune towers and Grey camps with real feedback, and polish the translations with native speakers, while we keep adding content. We would rather build the rest of the game together with the people who play it.
”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect around 1 to 2 months, depending on player feedback and how much new content the community asks for.
”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to add:
- More Grey camps and unique chief skills on the far islands
- New rune tower guardians and more guardian gear
- More villager stories, requests and camp upgrades
- Full controller support with button icons, plus more accessibility options (volume sliders, text size, screen shake toggle)
- Balance, performance and co-op improvements based on feedback
- Reviewed and polished translations for every supported language
”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is complete and playable from start to finish:
- The home island and eight far islands to sail to
- The full story with its ending
- Rune towers with endless floors, guardians, rune pillars and island hazards
- Eight Grey camps on the home island and more on the far islands
- Camp building and upgrades, five villagers, daily events and feats
- Online co-op for up to 4 players through Steam
- Steam achievements, Steam Cloud saves, gamepad support
- Ten languages

Some balance, co-op stability and translations may still be rough, and we will fix them quickly as players report them.
”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price slightly when the full version releases, so joining during Early Access is the cheapest way to get the game. Everyone who buys during Early Access will receive the full version and every update at no extra cost.
”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We read every review and Steam discussion post. Players can report bugs and suggest features in the Steam Community discussions, and we post regular development updates and patch notes through Steam announcements. Feedback on co-op, difficulty and translations will directly decide what we work on next.

About This Game
The tide brought you here. The towers will keep you here.
You wake on the shore of a misty island beside a strange old vessel, its ribs carved with glowing runes. By day the island is yours to explore. By night the Grey rolls in, a mist that burns anyone caught outside the fort.

Gather driftwood, pitch a camp and light the fire. Then grow the camp, help the other castaways, and learn why the rune towers stand on every island.
Survive the island
• [*]Day, night and the Grey. Be inside the fort by dusk, or plant torches and moon lanterns to hold the mist back. Every fourth night the mist rolls in thick.

 • [*]Hunger, cold and weather. Rain, storms and snow chill you. Cook stews at the camp fire, brew herbal tea, wear fur.

 • [*]Craft your way up. Stone axes and flint spears first, then bone, obsidian and moon shards. Set spike traps, tame a wolf.

 • [*]Grow your camp. A drying rack, a rain shelter, a smokehouse. Each upgrade makes the island a little kinder.
Climb the rune towers
Every island has a rune tower with endless floors. Every tenth floor a guardian waits: rune pillars shield it, and each island's guardians call down their own hazards. Beat the guardians of floors 10, 20 and 30 for gear found nowhere else.
Break the Grey camps
Eight of the vessel's crew were taken by the Grey. They now lead walled camps at the four winds of the island, each guarding a Grey Heart. Clear the guards, beat the chief, and free them one by one. The far islands have Grey camps of their own.
Sail to eight far islands
Take the strange vessel out to sea: a cane-field isle, frozen crags, a volcano, a land of rusted machines, a thorn jungle, a coral reef, cloud-high crags and a dark isle. Each has its own creatures, bosses, rune tower and a page of the vessel's log.
Together on Steam
Open a room and invite up to three friends with Steam. Defend the same fort, climb the towers together (every extra climber raises the rewards), and wake the twin rune stones that only answer two castaways at once. Everyone brings their own castaway and takes the progress home.
Also
[*]Five villagers with their own requests, daily help and a corner of the fort to build.

[*]A different event every day: a trader's raft, a falling star, a fish run, a washed-up crate.

[*]Fishing, planting beds and animals, a journal of goals and feats.

[*]Generative music that follows the day, the night, the storm and the fight.

[*]Steam achievements, Steam Cloud saves, controller support.

[*]English and Vietnamese.
