What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Since the early stages of development of Bone Voyage we knew this game was going to be very big in regards to the amount of content we wanted to offer. To make sure that we can gather feedback and iterate upon existing content while also working on later parts of the game we chose to launch in Early Access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We will take as long as we need to make sure that the game is bug-free and has all the content that we want it to feature. Because of this, we cannot offer a comprehensive time-line. Since our game is a student project though we do expect to be wrap up work on it around July. This does not mean that the game will leave early access then though.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We are planning for the full version of Bone Voyage to feature around 20 to 30 quests that will take the player on an adventure throughout the entire ship. On top of that, we are planning to create content that will tie into the main story but offer additional, optional challenges to the player. The amount of content or the type of content we create might change as development continues.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Our current build that is accessible on Steam has access to all the quests in the Chapter 1 arc. Players can expect between 1 to 2 hours of gameplay. All mechanics from the skeletal toolbox have been implemented meaning that the player can experiment with detaching their head and arm and exploring the entirety of the ship deck and its various rooms. Due to the current state of implementation saving and loading is not yet working. The game also has bugs that will impede player progression.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, the game will always be free.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will be posting often in the forums and will poll the communities opinion on certain parts of the game. We will also use in-game analytics packages to track where players get stuck in our game and make sure that we can resolve those issues.”

Announcing: Major Update!

Hey everyone,

We are finally comfortable with releasing the next step in Bone Voyage's adventure. This update brings a large chunk of the changes we wanted the project to contain:

  • Options Menu including graphical settings.
  • Our first implementation of Saving and Loading!
  • Improvements to the stability of the dialogue screens.
  • Issues resolved in the quests, meaning more content is playable.
  • Camera improvements, making gameplay flow better.
  • Extra content added to the deck and dinner.
  • Overall graphical improvements to the deck and dinner.
  • Performance improvements across the whole game.

We are super excited to publish this update but do we want to remind everyone that saving and loading is still in development. Your progress in the game will be largely saved but you will still run into issues. When you do: please report them through the pause menu. On top of that, we want to make it clear that in the coming weeks updates might invalidate your save-file. We are working hard to improve stability and will inform everyone when we are comfortable with announcing full saving and loading support.

Enjoy the update, and see you next time!

“Every once in a while, it's nice to just relax and watch a good story unfold. Not everything has to be about weapons, upgrades, stats, leaderboards, or talking trash with your fellow friends online. Sometimes you just want to play a game that is cheeky and wholesome. If any of this describes the current mood that you are in, then look no further than Bone Voyage.”
