What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We make games for players who know and love in-depth RPGs & strategy games. Early Access gives us an opportunity to make sure we’re finishing the game with what you want in mind before bringing it to a wider audience.

We’ve run EAs for multiple games before and have a proven track record of EA success on Steam. It’s a core part of our process that gives us space to invest more in the systems players find most fun and create additional storylines based on player ideas and experiences.

In a Trese Brothers game’s Early Access, we prioritize making sure updates never break your save games and we share frequent progress reports and roadmap updates so you can see how the game is progressing toward completion - not lingering in perpetual EA. We listen to players, add new content regularly, and deliver on our promises.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Updated 10/1/24: Less than 1.5 years. We plan to fully launch around spring of 2025. Stay tuned for more specific announcements to come.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We're planning a lot more content, more heist awesomeness, modding (as a post-launch update), and translations.

Character build possibilities are planned to expand with:
* more character classes to choose from
* more starting characters with different traits and backgrounds
* more cybernetic implants
* and even more visual customization options for your squad members and their equipment.

We’ve already more than doubled the amount of playable mission content the game had at EA release, and have significantly more we plan to add -- world events, proc-gen missions, squad member storylines, and ultimately, game completion storylines. This is one of the areas where EA really gives players an opportunity to make an impact, as storylines inspired by your gameplay, ideas, and feedback get worked into the game.

We plan to continue to expand existing systems like heist leverage and planning options, safehouse base-building, interactions with your network of contacts, head hunters, and more.

Finally, by full launch we plan to have translations for the languages we see the most demand for, and to have laid the foundation for modding support to come in a post-launch update.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Updated August 2024:

✅ All core features are ready to play!

✅ The game is save stable. Updates will never invalidate a save game. All new content added to the game is added to saved games of any age (unless the content is directly related to new game setup).

✅ 30-50 hours of mission content are already available to discover on any playthrough, and the proc-gen system allows for much longer playthroughs even after you’ve gone through all available story content.

⚠ Storylines are in-progress. Several story arcs reach a ‘paused’ point after their first 2-3 missions, waiting to resume when further development completes them. You can continue to play through other storylines and proc-gen missions; new content in paused storylines will automatically start to appear as game updates add it in.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We believe good communities help build amazing games. We’re here constantly to engage and gather feedback and learn from our players how to improve the game wherever we can.

We are also active daily interacting with players on our discord: https://discord.gg/tresebrothers

Players can see our last game, Star Traders: Frontiers, a Steam “Best of Early Access” award winner we’ve made 300+ free updates to and participated in thousands of community hub discussions in, to see how involved we are with our wonderful player communities.”

About This Game

A modern tactical RPG with some of our favorite elements: gridless movement, environmental cover, specialized overwatch, initiative manipulation and more. Independent enemy unit AI opens up a world of creative stealth options; pick them off one by one, stage diversions, or use advanced tech to sneak right by them.

Combat is challenging and in-depth. Powerful abilities, tricked out weapons, and smart coordination can give you an edge, but once you go loud expect things to escalate. Move fast and avoid getting pinned down to accomplish your objectives and get out alive.

The ecosystem has collapsed. Only 112 cities remain, sheltering under massive domes or inside of mountains. Artificial consciousness has been created, killed, and outlawed at a global level. Megacorporations, nanotech and quantum computing have radically altered the world… and your character is one of the few equipped to handle it.

Choose your jobs to build your rep without taking on too much heat. Work your network of underworld contacts to trade favors, pay bribes, and gain advantages before taking on a heist. Plan your path through multi-stage missions, and commit your crew to legwork that could reveal new opportunities or threats.

Balance factions, favors, reputation and more. Rivals, fixers, arms dealers and corporate big shots... who you work for, who you fail or betray, all of it can open and close opportunities for you. Watch your heat, and try to make sure more people owe you than the other way around.

Extensive talent trees, multiclassing, weapon modding, safehouse upgrades, evolving character traits and more combine to give players endless ways to build a crew that can take on any job. Rich visual & naming customization lets you personalize any of your characters.

Your squad members evolve as you play, shaped by your choices, their injuries, interactions, even their presence on some missions. Inspired by years of tabletop RPGs, our custom-built Casting Director story engine uses all this information to choose and place squad members and NPCs into world events and storylines it selects for you on each playthrough. Who will end up a betrayer, a friend in need, or the villain this time? Create new squads, discover new stories, and watch how your choices make it all fit together.

Trese Brothers Games makes deep, highly-replayable strategy games & RPGs. Cyber Knights: Flashpoint is our 9th and best yet, made possible by our dedicated fans and player support from our previous games. We're long-time fans of cyberpunk and are thrilled to bring together both a fresh take and so many of the genre's classic themes around some of our favorite gameplay.
