What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access allows me to work closely with the community to fine-tune core systems like fish behavior, tank management, balancing, and overall feel. Player feedback will directly influence new fish species, decorations, and quality of life improvements as development continues.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Fish Tank Sim is expected to remain in Early Access for approximately 12–24 months, depending on development progress, community feedback, and the scope of added systems. Considering it's currently being developed by a single developer.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to expand on the current experience with deeper progression. This may include additional tanks, more fish with unique traits, expanded decoration and upgrade systems, new environments, visual customization options, and optional side activities such as fishing. These features are goals and may change during development.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version offers a fully playable core experience. Players can manage multiple fish tanks, feed fish, clean tanks through interactive mechanics, grow and sell fish to earn money, unlock new tanks and fish through leveling, purchase tank upgrades such as filters and aerators, trade large orders using the trade menu, and a experience a day/night cycle with ambient forest sounds.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Fish Tank Simulator is expected to increase slightly in price after leaving Early Access, reflecting the addition of new content and systems.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan to actively involve the community through Steam discussions and Discord by gathering feedback, engaging in discussions, and using polls to help guide future improvements and priorities.”

About This Game

Current Version: Alpha.

Fish Tank Simulator is a short-session aquarium management game focused on calm multitasking, smart fish placement, and steady progression.

Fish don’t have a forced lifespan. They can remain in your tanks indefinitely if kept in the right conditions.
Your challenge is deciding which fish to buy, how to manage space, and how to optimize multiple tanks at once.

While fish grow, you stay active:

  • Go fishing to earn decorations and rare species

  • Upgrade tanks with filters, aerators, and auto feeders to reduce maintenance

  • Plan tank layouts around each fish’s natural social behavior

Late Game (Early Access):

As you advance, your focus shifts from basic tank management to optimization and expansion.

Selling fish earns cash, pearls, and XP, unlocking higher tier species and upgrades.
The late game objective is constructing a large communication tower piece by piece using expensive components.

Completing the tower allows you to hire a keeper to maintain your original tanks, opening the path to a remote northern location with new environmental challenges.

In Early Access, completing the tower concludes the current progression and rewards your dedication with permanent cosmetic upgrades.

More will be described as the development process progresses.
