Why Early Access?

“The power of a community and its feedback is no secret, and Versus World is no exception. Being a multiplayer FPS developed by a sole developer, it craves the attention of others and their valuable input, and the bots aren't smart enough to offer feedback. Early Access gives me the ability to put it in the hands of others, while allowing me the time to get it done right.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I anticipate it taking 12-18 months to finish all features I currently have planned, plus some wiggle room for unplanned, awesome ideas I hear from you.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Here's the list of features I plan on adding:

At least 4 new maps
At least 3 new, unique game modes, and a menu for customizing virtually any game setting you can think of
Map editor
Robust mod support (weapons, grenades, power-ups, game modes, etc.)
Steam Workshop integration for game mode variants, custom maps, and mods
Experience/level system with unlockable customization items
Advanced character customization
Many new grenades and power-ups
Matchmaking playlists
Steam achievements
Polish wherever we find the flaws (of course)

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable with multiplayer and single-player versus AI bots. Players can host and join public or private game lobbies. The following features are currently implemented:

3 unique maps, and another smaller version of one
3 unique game modes (Deathmatch, Siege, and Heatmatch) with several variants, both FFA or Teams
7 weapon types
- Assault Rifle (Burst fire)
- SMG
- Shotgun
- Sniper
- Rocket Launcher
- Assault Rifle (Full auto)
- Pistol
Item boxes that give you a random grenade or power-up
4 grenade types
- Frag grenade
- Sticky spike grenade
- Tesla grenade (shocks nearby players)
- Rogi Ball (teleport to wherever it first makes contact)
6 power-up types
- Grenade cloud
- Big heads
- 6-pack of thrusts
- Damage boost

“The price will gradually rise to reflect the amount of content, and therefore will be at its cheapest in Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I will do my best to siphon every bit of genius from you guys. I'm excited to read everything you say, good or bad, and take it all into consideration. A game is never really finished. To assume all mechanics are perfectly balanced, and there's no more cool features to think of is insane, and I hope to hear all about it from you.

Also, with the addition of key community features (map editor, game variants, mods), those that want to go even deeper into the creative process will have the tools to do so.”

Spin the reel!
Collect item boxes on the map to give you a random power-up or grenade.

Get Locked In

Play online against others, and/or take on AI bots.
Play classic deathmatch game types, or choose Siege to tug-o-war over capture points.
Heatmatch game type: Get kills, earn medals, and deal damage quickly to increase your heat index.
3 unique maps: Rogi Park, Web Island, and Meta World
