The game would be good, but the PC port is full of glitches, bugs and crashes. The controls are terrible.

My main introduction to the Tomb Raider games and for the more part wasn't too bad!

Enjoyed the story, didn't much like the biking parts or the combat but it was very fun if a bit short

8/10 :)

This is the Tomb Raider I grew up with and fell in love with. Perfect balance between tactile controls, impressive visuals, and interesting levels. The Tomb Raider Legend trilogy (also containing Anniversary and Underworld) are the hallmark of Tomb Raider games for me, and I really hope that Square Enix will return to this formula after they're done with "The Hunger Games: Starring Lara Croft."

Good platforming title that would be a very good platforming title if it wasn't for horrible camera controls. The camera always auto-centers itself behind Lara after a few seconds... so those used to modern cameras are going to have a bad time. The camera also tends to mess up in certain areas, and isn't very easy to control. You get used to it, but I could see how it could be a dealbreaker to some. So in the end: fun platforming, GODAWFUL CAMERA, decent shooting mechanics, lame story (but with good voiceacting).

This game was a solid entry in the series. While rather short and inconclusive story wise, it was engaging through out and I completed it in just a few days. My only complaints about the game are the targetting system being a bit difficult at times, the instructions not referencing a controller despite playing with a controller and the boss fights being a bit tiresome. Overally I highly recommend this game

Classic Tomb Raider re-awakened in a more fluid, precise and modern engine with better controls and amazing visuals. Solid platforming and combat throughout, incredible acting and a great plot. One of the best in the series in my opinion.

8/10. Needs more bikinis.

Tomb Raider Legend was the return of the TR series after Eidos had successfully torpedoed it into the garbage can during the PS2 Generation. It's the first game in the series by Crystal Dynamics, and the big difference between it and the originals is the style of platforming. It no longer uses tank controls and the grid/tile based movement that the originals did, but rather goes for more like a Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (and it's sequels) style of platforming.

It's the only game of the Crystal series that they were able to go with a bit more of a lighthearted tone, so it leans heavily into the James Bond style globetrotting adventure, with the headset banter from your assistants. The levels are pretty good, with the standouts being Japan and England. The downsides are the combat sequences that are too frequent for a TR game, and some overlong motorcycle sequences that are in there to break up the pace. The majority of the game though is still based around puzzle solving and platforming which is what I wanted from a TR game.

Quick review:

Short Verdict: Not the best, but a nice, relatively short TR game. Fans of the series will probably enjoy playing it. But there are better games of this genre. By the way, I had played it before, on my PS2, and I still enjoyed it again now.

Pros:
  • Nice level atmosphere, graphics and BGM
  • Good puzzle levels
  • The platforming part is enjoyable
  • Great story
  • Voice acting and characters are well done and developed
  • Finding secrets and doing TTs add to the game

Cons:
  • Weak action/shooting
  • It's TR, so be prepared to get frustrated because Lara decided she didn't want to grab on to something and fell to her death
  • A bit short (100% in 6.5h of gameplay for me, no TTs)
  • Next Generation caused the game to crash sometimes (solved with some tweaks, still used NG)

Bought on / for: GreenMan Gaming for US$ 1.40. Yeah, it's worth it, even though it's old.

Pretty much one of my favorite Tomb Raider games. Have if for both console and pc . It was sort of a fun and "lighter" part of the series. Puzzle solving is the best part of the game in my honest opinion. Combat is a lot shaky but nothing too overbearing. All in all good game and a good price for a classic. Hope for a HD version.. maybe... cross fingers.

Story/Presentation: 6

I'll be honest, I was sort of expecting quite a lot from this game. I know it came out before the Anniversary edition, but seeing as it was popular enough to Make the Anniversary game, I was hoping this would top it up well. But it's not bad, regardless. The graphics are actually really lovely. It looks good, but nothing Too special in my taste. Plus, I felt like the game didn't look finished. There were areas where the characters would move around inside a car and their hair or arm would move through the solid of the vehicle. It was odd to look at, and even the animation was very awkward, and I'm pointing it out because from the time it came out. Reason why the score is actually lower is because of it's story. Incredibly bland, super cheesy, and nothing too awe-strucking.

Gameplay: 8

But I will admit, what made this game it's credit was it's gameplay. The controlers are really easy to manuever, Lara's really fun to move and play arond with, and the physics within work well. It's got pretty good puzzles, awesome boss battles, and I liked the chasing scenes a lot for some reason. It's a little bit too easy, but still got me entertained in game. Just not with the cutscenes.

Overall: 7

What really bummed me getting this game on Steam is that it doesn't support it's Overlay, nor could I have taken any screenshots, but that's my personal opinion, and I think TR:Underworld is the same. But beside that, it's a pretty good action/puzzle game, much like Anniversary, but don't expect much with the story. I'll still recommend it because it's really really fun!
