Sobre este conteúdo

The Settle-Carlisle Expansion Pack is a superb modern recreation of this famous and beautiful British route, complete with 5 locomotives and rolling stock.

Famous for its Ribblehead Viaduct and stunning scenery, the Settle-Carlisle line has long been a favourite amongst rail fans – especially since it famously escaped closure in the late 1980s. It is also well-known as a triumph of engineering against the odds, as a huge workforce was assembled to work in extremely tough conditions. The line is home to some dramatic constructions, such as the Ribblehead Viaduct and Blea Moor Tunnel, and rises to the highest point on the British main line at 1,169 feet (356m) above sea level. The line endured and won a five-year battle against closure in the late 1980s, and has since remained a favourite with enthusiasts who come from far and wide to ride on the line every year.

Now you can drive trains along this inspiring stretch of line, battling the gradients through the ‘three peaks’ and admiring the views as you drive over (and sometimes beneath) this wonderful landscape. With modern and preserved locomotives to drive, there is something for everyone on the Settle-Carlisle.

I bought this route back in 2013 and I would like to say it came with a few locos to drive with plus a 158 DMU. Mainly because I had remember doing this route with the A3 Flying Scotsman (which is sold seperatly) back in MSTS. There's mostly standard scenarios than career but this is a early made route. Also this route would be a classic to your Train Simulator collection.

The 158 doesn't show the right headlight aspects, it will show the red tailights on both sides. If you own the 158 pack then you could possibly swap the defualt 158 for that. The doors won't open at stations unlike in other TS DLC out there. The other trains that comes with this route which I don't have a problem with.

It could be my best bet to buy this on a sale and I will rate this route add-on 7/10.

Mixed bag this add-on.

-The route is absolutely superb. Accurate and extremely well done. Ribblehead Viaduct is a real treat. Full marks for the route.

-The Train- ugh, this is where it all goes totally wrong. The Class 158 is terrible. The cab looks good, but that hides the bad stuff.

The DRA - which is available on other Train Simulator DLC as a vital cab function in real life is depicted, but doesn't do anything.

The head and tail lights don't work and you end up on the driving end having the option of displaying Tail Lights (red) forwards or even worse, nothing at all- both of which would cause in real life the train to be declared a failure and unfit to carry passengers!

The passenger doors are the absolute opposite of the real thing- Class 158 doors are notoriously slow to open and close- in the DLC the doors violently snap open and shut!- if someone was to get caught in those doors they would be sliced in two!

The engine sounds are nothing like a class 158 should sound like. Generic sounds must have been used as I have never heard a Class 158 sound like this in real life.

You can get the Armstrong Powerhouse sound pack like I did to try and improve the train, but even their superb work can't hide how poor the Class 158 is.

Nothing wrong with the route- it's absolutely fanstastic, shame about the poor train you have to "Settle" on running it with.

Stations have detailed signage and clutter
Graphics are a step up from MSTS
The never-ending stretch of the 60mph speed limit is very relaxing and hypnotic.

Given the astonishing quality of the included Class 158, I would say it is worth every penny of the £3 the route cost at the time of purchase.

Essential ... a lot of people will reccommend this route simply because its iconic, there is much truth in that however it really is only a medium length point-to-point route which once you have driven up and down it a few times will become tired fairly quickly ...

The real reason to get this route is its a survivor from the now mythical past of TS, back when Train simulator was good, the developers actually cared and DLC represented value for money and quality, This DLC shines and is a must buy for anyone wanting to build a collection of suitable rollingstock while getting the best value for money ... Settle to Carlisle comes with an astonishing 5 drivable assets and a heap of extra rolling stock. Because S2C been around for a long time and lots of people have it this rolling stock has become a common requirement for many community and third party scenarios. S2C will give you access to more scenarios than virtually any other DLC making it even more value for money.

Think of S2C as an awesomely good value asset pack with a pretty good free route chucked in with it.

Good level, plenty of free rolling stock. If you like the Carlisle to Settle line, then you can have a lot of fun with this...
Also if you own WCML upto Glasgow, it connects up the lines... Thus you can go from Settle to Glasgow, if you own both the Route add on's. Which can be a lot of fun...
