Portsmouth Direct Line Expansion Pack est une modélisation de la ligne de 49 miles assurant le trajet entre Woking et le port de Portsmouth via Guildford. Basé sur la ligne créée en 2000 opérant toujours aujourd’hui, l'extension inclut la Class 450 unité multiple électrique (visible très régulièrement sur la ligne) et la représentation fidèle des 16 stations le long de cette voie. La ligne directe de Portsmouth traverse des centres urbains, des zones rurales du Surrey jusqu'à la ville portuaire de Portsmouth sur la côte sud.

La ligne fut mise en service en 1845, et à cette époque, les machines à vapeur avaient bien du mal à franchir les côtes, et les dénivelés entre Guildford et Petersfield. Néanmoins, les durées de trajet furent améliorées par l’électrification de la ligne en 1937, et plus tard vers les années 2000, la ligne à troisième rail de 750 V CC était majoritairement desservie par des unités motrices électriques Class 444 et Class 450. La 450 inclut avec la Portsmouth Direct Line est une fidèle modélisation de la version réelle Siemens de la Class 450 ‘Desiro’, qui entra en service en 2003, et comprend des contrôles et des effets sonores réalistique ainsi que des affichages et des contrôles de portières indépendants.

I think everyone would agree that this route needs an upgrade.

I live near the route and have been travelling between Woking and Portsmouth numerous times, and comparing it to this it almost looks like it has no character. The developers must have spent so little time and effort to this route than other such as London to Brighton, Liverpool to Manchester and South London Network to name a few.

In order to improve the route DTG need to:
- Add consist tilt to certain areas such as at Godalming, Rowlands Castle etc.
- Texture and scenery improvements to make it look like the real thing
- Improve timetables to scenarios included

DOVETAIL UPGRADE IT PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty much only the Woking to Portsmouth bit has scenery. The rest of it doesn't. There's even a bit where there is a loop which isn't supposed to be there. If you do want thhis route then get it on a large sale. Otherwise invest your money on something else

Not bad. I would acutally recommend this game. Although, I am still deciding which train to buy. 455 or 444.

If you want a route with over half the track with no scenery, then this is for you! The mainline between Woking and Portsmouth is nice, and has scenery. But up north, towards Woking, there is extra tracks which forms a huge network that is around half, or even more of the total route's mileage, which DOES NOT HAVE SCENERY. DPS does have a updated version to this, but this is only to the line between Woking and Portsmouth, and not to the extra tracks. So if you want the entire route to have scenery, WHICH THE ENTIRE ROUTE SHOULD HAVE, you will have to include it your self. The EMU which is included is a joke. 1) The brakes SUCK 2) No Passenger View and 3) No DRA. It's nice to know, that DTG has been aware of this Packs's issues for along time, but still havent fixed them, just 4 years after this has been raised. I give this a -6 out of 10.

The route is old the Class 450 is ♥♥♥♥ and if you have your setting down low there
will be floating objects so overall 3/10 on a rating. Cameron Irvine,Falkirk,Scotland.

The Portsmouth Direct Line is the only route in which you can drive South West Trains. Recommended with the 455 and 444.

Looks: 10/10
Rolling Stock: 5/10
Pricing: 7/10
Enjoyment: 8/10

Overall mark: 30/30

Undoubted pass.

Good route, nice detail and plenty of stations for stopping services or expresses. Class 450 is not a brilliant train, badly simulated with awful brakes and no passenger view. Other than that this is a decent route, not my favourite but not bad.

NOTE- DO NOT BUY THIS INDIVIDUALLY!!! Buy it in the UK collection- same price for this, class 444, GEML, class 90 and more!

Nice route nice scenery, but unpolished. It seems like DTG gave up fixing the issues in this route as it was released in 2012 and now it's 2015 still no updates.

-Class 450 the handling is ABYSMAL. The brakes are too weak, and this is not me exaggerating. Enter a 12-car platform at 40mph, set the brakes to 81% (maximum non-emergency level), and watch the train overrun. Such basic issue that ruins gameplay. Also most buttons in the cab is non-functioning.

-Some scenarios unable to achieve gold medal. For one the maximum score you can get is 400, so not for those gold medal OCD patients. some scenarios also have terrible timetables such that you are very early in one station, and very late for the next station.

-Route only goes from Portsmouth to Woking, could be extended to Waterloo for the whole experience (only 15 more miles). Seems like developers too lazy to finish off the last bit.

Final words: Do pick one up if it's over 50% off, but refrain from purchasing until DTG gave it an upgrade like Isle of Wight.

Well.

Route:
This route is a very nice route, good scenery (only the Woking to Portsmouth bits - even though the track between Redhill and Wokingham, Ascot and Wokingham, Ascot and Aldershot, Brookwood and Alton, Guildford to Hinchley Wood and Guildford and Aldershot is there, there is no scenery). BUT - don't buy this route. Buy the UK Collection which comes with this route, the GEML, Class 444 (A must have if you want to play any scenarios from the workshop), Class 66 Freightliner and Class 90 all for the same price. BUY THE UK COLLECTION AND NOT THIS ROUTE! This is one of 2 reasons why I don't recommend it. Howeve the fact that this route doesn't go from Waterloo to Woking which is a large let down so after a while this route can get boring. So to sum up: good add-on with some bits left out but buy the UK Collection instead.

Train:
No. No. No, no, no, no. This train has some MAJOR mistakes.
The cab view is fine. Nothing special here.
The train looks decent. There are some discrepancies between it and the class 450 in real life, but otherwise it is reasonable. Also there is no SWT branding but there's a patch for that from UKTS.
There is no passenger view. I don't know how long it takes but judging by the quality of other passenger views, I don't think it takes long. But there isn't one. Pure laziness.
The physics are a joke. The braking distance is shocking, and I mean shocking. If you are not under 30mph by the time you enter a platform, you are not going to stop at that platform. Most trains do it at around 40 with max breaking, some have done it from 50 but 30 is not realistic at all. How did this get through the testing? How?
The sounds are of the normal standard: Utter joke. Painful to listen to if you've been on any British electric Desiro.
The 450 could have been good but the sounds and physics made it go from decent to painful-to-drive. It's not as bad as the DTG 321 but then that's not really saying anything.

So buy the UK Collection and never drive the 450 without the appropriate Armstrong Powerhouse sound pack.

This route is great however the brakes on the included train is not and it is also a shame that the route dosnt go as far as London Waterloo, but i often have a go on this route and i still love it!

Route Pros:
Nice scenery...
Iterestingly enough, there are some grades on this line, that are steep enough to catch attention!
Quite a few level crossings (which i like)
Many scenarios
Performs EXTREMELY well for me.

Route Cons:
I can't find any!

Class 450 Pros:
Nice looking on the outside

Class 450 Cons:
The brakes are TERRIBLE
Cabview is (in my opinion) very badly modelled.
The horn is the SAME horn from the Class 455, the Class 360, AND the Class 380!

Should you buy this route? Ya, I guess you should, overall it is a pretty enjoyable drive!

This route is one of my favourite, mainly because it is nearest to me. This is a lovely route that I play literally everytime I'm on Train Simulator.

Postives
-Distance is very accurate
-Nice scenary
-Track layout is great
-Class 450 is supplied with it
-DPS upgrade available, with London - Faversham.

Negatives
-Released in 2012- looks old now.

I don't have a problem with this route, but they are the issues I think that do come accross to most.

Get it with the UK collection.

The route itself is nice, aside from the fact you only use about 1/3 of it (the rest is undetailed and/or unelectrified)

Like everyone says, the 450 has poor braking, but if you took my advice and got the UK collection (which you'd be really dumb not to because it's for the same price) then you'll have the 444, which makes up for it in my opinion even if it does have the same sounds.

Altough it is old, there are thousands of workshop scenarios to try out. Definitely pick this on up in the UK Collection Bundle on a sale, which will save you soooo much money.

It is good, it could of gone to Waterloo, Brighton, and Southampton, there should be a portal for all tracks at the Effingham Junction Turn off, some reason on part of the Hinchley Wood Branch there is no 3rd Rail, but people think there is a route limit.

For a commuter trains junkie like myself, this route is a must, right after London-Brighton. Of course, in its basic state, with only Class 450 included, it's lifeless, but if you can grab the PDL Collection it becomes a nice commuter experience.

So yes, but only the whole PDL collection.
